I personally think the vocals in this band have a black metal style. The guitar may be a little on the death metal side, but death metal vocals are normally deeper than this! One of my favorite examples of death metal vocals is from the death metal band Nile

What I was doing was simply comparing them to contemporary christian rock, in which singing about jesus is a standard. I like this band cause their music kicks ass, guitar playing spectacular. Death metal does not stand for anything. That's why there is Christian, Satanic, gory, epic etc death metal. The term 'death' came from the band Death, which 'set' the 'groundwork' for death metal. Death metal is just a music that is aggressive, fast-paced, harsh. Lyrics are like the garnishing. They don't define any metal in its own right (expect Viking metal maybe). As proof, I hate Christianity a lot, but I enjoy many Christian bands. I just ignore the Christian lyrics and enjoy the music.
