Hey bro can u tell me what your Blub model number my tach stock blub blew out and wonder if you can email me the model number for it i has an 2005 gs500f n very prooud of it can u please email me at chauscott@yahoo.com thanks =]
i dunno it depends what you wanna do if you have ridin befor lots this will be kinda gutless... and it is more of a cruising bike not for stunts if you want speed and stunts get like a cbr600r or a zx6r or gixxer6 or r6 dunno whatelse to say but yea those are all the great bikes...
@TheWTFers Ok you seem to know about bikes! I weigh 200 pounds(im not fat, lol) and i want to start riding! i dont think a 250 will carry me well! (on the highways that is!) what do you think?
It does. I'm 200 pounds 6 foot and the 250 fucking rocks. I hit 140 easy and I have hit 165 before. it's not as bad as the insecure faggots say on here. Great bike.
@RippinSkullz no way...theres no way ur hitting 165 (even 140) on a 250...unless of course its a 2 stroke, what make model and year? and what mods? cause i have a ninja 250 that i ride around the city to work (so i dont put miles on my r6s and r1s) and the fastest ive gotten it to is 120 (i only weigh 175) and thats under full tuck (and dont say i dont know how to ride, i race bikes as a second form of income so if i didnt know how to ride, i dont think my sponsors would give me money to race)
I'm not lying. Redline the bike in every gear and you will get 150 easily. I have no mods only a replaced undertail. I have hit 155 on flat road and 165 down a hill... I don't know what you're doing wrong, my spedometer isn't wrong because my brother and I went side by side.
@RippinSkullz im not doing anything wrong, and i dont shift unless its at redline (unless im in the city like i usually use my 250 for) but when i got it i took it on the highway and gunned it and it maxed out at 120, yea when i went back the other way (with the wind this time) it got to about 135 but its not doing 165 unless its a two stroke, my 2006 r6 (probably the only bike that i have that is bone stock (not counting...
@RippinSkullz ...a slip on pipe (all my other bikes have full systems)) and it barely does 165, but again, if its a 4 stroke i highly doubt ur getting ur 250 that fast, i have a 2 stroke 250 that hits about 170 but thats two stroke, and even if your friend was with you it still doesnt mean its right, all speedometers start to loose accuracy (at about the same rate) the faster you go, so just cause ur speedometer says 150 your really only doing about 135...
@RippinSkullz ...and dont think that im just trying to argue or fight, im not, i just dont believe that cause from my experience (riding 11 years and racing semi pro for 7 of those (never wanted to go more then semi pro even tho i had the option to cause i also have a career that i worked hard for)) unless u weight 120lbs going downhill with the wind, with a turbo on it, a 4 stroke 250 will not hit those speeds, at least without taking 10 minutes to get to them, but even still i cant believe it
@RippinSkullz wait a minute...i just checked your profile and it says your from canada...ur not talking mph are you? ur talking kph? cause if its kph then yea ill def believe that cause 160kph is about 100mph which for a 200lb guy on a 250 which sounds about right...but if you were talking mph then i still dont believe it...
@RippinSkullz haha i guess all this "arguing" (if it was even that) was pointless then, see this is why we need to have 1 standard for the entire world, at least just for speed...we should invent something like that...like we can call it smorks haha idk im kinda drunk right now but ya i take back the doubts that i had haha
@RippinSkullz haha yea cause thats the thing that was really worrying me was the fact that someone that wasnt semi pro had their bike going way faster then me cause i was just trying to figure out how the hell i got sponsors if im not the fastest (which as of now i still am :) ) yea but clicks is already take, its a form of measurement, how bout neps...haha and yes i am drunk again as im in vegas woooooo
haha tear it up. can i ask you for some advice on wheelieing my 250? i've tried the clutch and can get it pretty high but i like the alternative of the passenger pegs and i can get it up but i need to hit my balance point, any pointers?
@RippinSkullz um...for me its kinda hard to explain cause when i race or stunt, i just do it, i dont think about it anymore but...the easiest way since ur bike doesnt have alot of power like the bikes i race or stunt on, would be to get aftermarket sprockets if u can spare like $250 for some good ones, that would make it way easier, it would lower ur top speed, but u would get up to speed faster, but what u wanna do, is put ur left foot on the passenger peg....
@RippinSkullz ...and keep ur right foot on ur peg so u can hit the rear brake if something goes wrong, then stand up on the bike kinda and get it to like 5-10mph (whatever that would be in mph) and rev it up to about 9.5 k (basically what i go by is the center of the power band) then hold it there, and push down on the handlebars and the pull up on the bars and back, while dumping the clutch fast, just not so fast that the rev goes from 9k to 2k...
@RippinSkullz ...best thing i can say for understanding what i mean by dumping the clutch is to find a video on here with the bike sounds of people doing wheelies on the highway...itll be sounding normal then itll red line (when he pulls the clutch) then itll go down a little bit then back to high revs...thats the best i can explain it, it would actually be easier for me to ride to canada to show so...pm if u got anything else so i dont need a million comment boxes haha
@vincent154451 250s are good if you just wanna ride around the city or town, but anything less then a 500 will get knocked around by the wind because of how light they are, that and in those situations where u have to gun it instead of brake, if your on the highway doing 65 and that happens, theres not gonna be enough power to get up to speed quick enough, itll just chug up to speed...
@vincent154451 ...the best beginner bikes that ive seen have been the ninja 500r 650r suzuki sv650 gs500 yamaha fzr600 fz6r (if you want the sporty look), dont get me wrong i have a ninja 250 but thats just for riding around the city so i dont put miles on my r6s and r1s (and cause the 250r gets about 60mpg) but if your gonna do any riding on the highway, id get something bigger so its more comfortable and doesnt get knocked around the much (experience-riding for 11 years and racing semi pro)
I know myself too well, so after I upgrade from my 250 I'm going straight to a GS500 and after 2 or 3 years of owning that(mods, tracks etc.) I'll upgrade to a new/used gladius or versys.
Hey man, I just bought some WLED- 6's from the store, that are red, and I got some that are blue as well. But the blue ones didnt give as much light. Can you tell me what kind of bulbs those are?
Nah I changed the bulbs to blue.. motor is standard, as is the exhaust. It was a bit of fun for a learner legal bike but I'm glad I've moved onto a bigger bike now.
Um... also, that was almost 70mph in 3rd gear. And yes... it is VERY VERY bad to be shifting in the RED-LINE... that's why it's a REDLINE! Lol. I always shift between 6 and 9k depending on how fast I'm accelerating... as long as you're in the power band you're fine. If you shift at 5k rpm and your next gear drops in at 4k rpm it SUCKS... totally drops the power. Always shift between 6 and 10k..
Hope your kidding... have you seen a dyno sheet for these bikes? Bike makes its max power at redline, so if you want the maximum acceleration from it, you need to take it there. It won't hurt it.
@TommoEvo8MR all learner bikes powerbands are late in the rpm o u cant fuck up take offs ect andi agree if u keep it above 6.500rpm the bike tranforms froma comuter into a underpowered gixxer.
@TommoEvo8MR i might be mistaken, but from what i have seen these bikes make roughly the same power from 8k~10k and start losing after that, if you want to max it out shift around 10k it'll drop back to ~7.5k and you're consistently in the peak powerband.
i have a 2008 gs500f, ive only had her 5 days but after about 8000 rmp sounds like it starts to struggle *aka unhealthy* some bikes sound amazing at high revs (10k onwards) but i dont think it does it any good tbh! i think the redline is about 11k but im too scared to take her that high :|! lol
@TommoEvo8MR I have seen the dyno for this bike-- and it achieves maximum torque between 6 and 9K. I think what you are reading is maximum horsepower, but if you are looking for maximum acceleration you need the most torque, not horsepower.
Your right about it hurting the bike; it doesn't. As long as you don't hit redline, and it won't do any damage to the engine. Personally, I accidentally shift into neutral so often that I try to keep my revs under 9K to avoid redlining accidentally...
@HelloMrTaylor yup the average seems to be 8500 rpm. and an article a few months back pointed at bikes with carburetors living longer if they occasionally approached the redline. apparently the carbs are flushed and kept clean by the wide rpm band.
Guys... The bulbs are EXTREMELY easy to change. Pop the rear cover off the gauges, pop the bulb out of the back of the gauges, install BLUE LED bulb and BOOM, looks exactly like that. It was the first mod i did to my GS500 when I got her.
the gs is a 4 stroke m8 . umm did you change your speedo lights yaself ?? i want a set 4 my gs looks sweet . so how fast you gettin outa that beauty ??
hey i just got my gs500F for a first bike, i think its an awesome bike except for the really big handle bars (which i lowered) and the big side mirrors. Also isn't taking the bike to 10,000 rpm before shifting bad for the bike? i usually shift at about 7k. I just like going higher for the nice noise.
Do they even have rev limiters?

hello everyone, I´m from Brazil and I´ve a GS500 E 2008 (in Brazil there is no F version).
I´m very glad when readed in this posts that the passion for the GS line is the same than here.
I fell the same that CHEMKOUV says: "...there is complete transformation after 7000rpm, incredible racing sound!!! right?..."
YES THAT AMAZING BIKE AFTER 7K.
Riding until 5k she is very economic and after7K very sporting bike.
