TOP TEN DYLAN SONGS? MAYBE 1) QUINN THE ESKIMO 2) DESOLATION ROW 3) MR TAMBOURINE MAN 4) JOHN WESLEY HARDING 5) OXFORD TOWN 6) SAD EYED LADY... 7) PRECIOUS ANGEL(OR ANY SONG FROM SLOW TRAIN COMING) 8) VISIONS OF JOHANNA 9) FOREVER YOUNG 10 SONG TO WOODY THE LIST COULD ACTUALLY HAVE BEEN THE TOP 10,000,000,000,000 AND I STILL WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO EXHAUSE ALL MY FAVORITES. NO ONE HAS EVEN COME CLOSE TO BEING THIS PROLIFIC.
Not to be a troll, but this needs one thumb down. Perfection is not the human condition. It's the striving to reach it that brings out greatness. Thank you, Bobby, for trying so damn hard.
For being one of Dylan's first songs, this showed the brilliance of his songwriting, and hinted at what he would bring in the future. This song really encapsulates Guthrie's spirit, so much that you can imagine yourself in the room with Dylan as he sang it to Woody.
This is my favourite Bob song also; and one of my favourite love songs. I was just listening to the radio and the announcer said "leadbelly" and I had to hear the way bob sings his name hear..kinda 'leadbellycho"...aaahh...thanks for the fix....
@IveGot--I played this over and over--always wished I could've met woody but I was on the other side of the country-- and a teenager. I wore a black armband to school the day after he died. The song brings back so many memories. That was a time, wasn't it? It is so great that these memories can come flooding back through technology. @tgrsmuggs thanks for putting this up. The vinyl is gone but the memories remain.
this song's been stuck in my head all day... when i was in highschool we had a dylan day every year and when i was a senior my english class and i sang this for the whole student body...
This is so incredible. My dad, who died two years ago from cancer, traveled with Dylan before he really made it big. They took a road trip to visit Guthrie in the hospital when he was dying and Dylan played this song. I love how technology enables me to hear it and be reminded of my dad and the amazing life he led
@MikeSkiera Google Mark Eastman (my dad) and Bob Dylan. the first thing that comes up should say "Political folk music in America from its origins to Bob Dylan". Word of advice for the future: don't accuse someone's dead father of lying
@IveGotaTheory My english teacher likes and gave handouts on Woody Guthrie. I'm thinking of doing a essay on Woody. It looks as if you may be Wood's daughter acording to what you said. Woody seems like a wonderful writer to me, and down to earth and heavenly treasures.
that is an amazing story. Dylans the only reason i learned how to play music. the first time i heard the song knockin on heavens door i was hooked and had to learn all of dylans songs i hope you check out my profile maybe i can remind you of yer dad alittle more. take care friend i know what its like to lose a father who is perfect
@IveGotaTheory I think I know who your dad is. I've seen it in countless documentaries about when Dylan and a friend went to visit him. What an amazing chance to be with one of the greatest individuals to walk the world. Be proud.

my cast and I are using song to woody in our personalized adaptation of bobrauschenbergamerica by charles mee.
I must say it is the perfect song for our show and I nearly cry every time becker plays it on his guitar.
tonight is our last show and I am going to miss it so much. at least I know this song will always be here to remind me of good times.
