  • Had a USMC DUKW in Honolulu that I got surplus for about $250 at Pearl Harbor. Every thing worked, only had to replace the 6 volt battery. Even drove it like a jeep up in the mountains. Rented it out for filming the movie "HAWAII". Didn't really know what to do with it. Sold it to a guy before I shipped out to Viet Nam, he never payed me for the DUKW and abandon it. Sure wish that I had it now...

  • For a Dutch tv program we are making an episode about amphibious vehicles. We would love to use some of this footage.

Are we allowed to use this material? And is the material perhaps also available in a higher quality?

    Kind regards,

    Edda

  • cool i took a tour on one of these in hyannis mass.

  • What the video DOESN'T tell you is that they were nigh worthless once they got onto road networks --- DUKWs bogged-down into muddy unpaved roads very quickly, and were a pain to pull out, and their handling on ALL roads was terrible.

Allied forces in the Philippines learned these things the hard way, and soon relegated DUKWs to shore-based operations.

It's a wonder the troops didn't nickname them "Dookie".

  • nothing perfect O.o
