First off that's. Of a "primitive" bow since you made it out of a board it is a board bow and also you should thin the width of your tips at the end for faster cast
@Filmskra I would reccomend sinew which you can purchase at any hardware store i would believe and it comes in a big ball of sinew string so you will always have extra on hand should it break on the bow. It's the closest thing that works well and sticks to the primitive nature of the bow. Sinew String.
@TOOKIESxAxB1TCH You are obsessed and you are internet stalking me. I would be scared but somehow... you don't really bother me, so I won't even block you from commenting you since you went through all the trouble of making me part of your own screen name just to compliment me by your stalkerish behavior here. so carry on
Very nice bow. But do wear one glove for safety when using a plane. Use slow drying epoxy glue for the popular laminate not Titebond. Use tan B-50 for the string for safety.
It looks like sinew. You can get that on line. Great job building that short bow.
OH! use hemp fot the grip wrap, it's better than jute or sisle.
hey dude, i saw an interesting technique to bind two layers of material together for bowmaking. it was on this video about traditional mongolian bow making. they basically took two long, thick pieces of cord and criss-crossed them tightly along the whole length. it seems like it would provide tight binding evenly across the whole bow. cool vid btw
i once made a banboo bow.i took a banboo stick carved it then took some string from another healthy banboo stick dried it and it was tough but i could never make the bow strong it always eather broke or just plain sucked
Nice video. This looks not that hard to make. Instead of using twine to hold the pieces together as the glue dries, a clamp or weights would work better. If you don't have those, then rocks or bricks placed on top of a piece of plywood that you put on top of the bow blank as the glue dries would also work better than twine.
@Tatooinedragracer a good thiing to use for stringing a bow is to you aroung 30-40 pound fishing line because thats what i use on my homemade stick bow i thought i would let you know for future reference
I'm not sure you could call that a "primitive" bow; the innovation of wood lamination is a little more advanced technology compared to making selfbows.
Hey have you made yourself a tillering stick? if not they are extremely easy to make and I feel are a must especially if you are making more than one bow, by the way anyone that watches your video and says "f*cking whore" is an absolute loser with no life so screw those idiots

@tookieblueeyes Nice job man..man people are such assholes on you tube they talk shit like there master bow makers..you need to work on your skills..but your a young guy and did a fine jobs..try using other bows woods..and making flatbows ..nice work kid!
@HomeMadeGunNut I recently heard that same theory and I think I am going to put it to the test and find some good strong sturdy wood from the bush and shape a bow out of that and try it out and see which one out performes the other because I am quite curious to find out. Keep watching and I will post the videos having to do with that topic and that way everyone is clear... lumber yards/producers or bush wood...?
@tookieblueeyes Oh But If Your Going To Make A Bow In The Bush Its A Different Proccess You Need To Shave Off All The Bark Split It (If Its A Tree) And Then Dry It Over A Fire In The Smoke Carefull Not To Burn It Then Leave To Season For Atleast 1 Month The Longer You Leave It The More Power : )
@juanooooooooflame Yeah but now I am waiting for the thaw because I want to make the arrows out of wood I gather myself from the bush. I hit hyatus over the summer so I never got around to it but I will here soon.
@MrOvechkin1995 Well it may look like shit but it works well and it takes bigger balls to make a bow that looks like shit and post it where everyone can see than it takes to put someone down for trying... and besides, the thing WORKS

this really isnt a primitive bow. they didnt have any tools like that or a board of wood. they when out and got a tree limb and made a stave.

Never dry fire a bow!!!!! it will break if you do that. and it doesnt need to bend in the center

Great Video Blueyes And Sweet Bows, But I Heard That Wood From A Lumber Yard Is Less Strong Than Wood From The Bush.
