  • great soundtrack !!

  • how much one of those can cost

  • @42766cobra why, you wanna buy it?

  • Good job you need to either slow the motor between changes or add some kind of clutch mech.

  • interesting design but still needs work, the chattering coming from it when you try to switch gears shows it can't transition smoothly from one gear speed to the next

  • I must say, good job.

  • Good job, keep it up!

  • it sounds like

  • Chekhov? Is that you?

  • kinda works.. what buggs me is the loose gear dribbling during and after switching. If you would use that on exerted drive axle- it will loose lots of torque and probably stall. The most important rule of a thumb is to have the most minimal time between gear shifting.

    Looks neat though.

  • Weri git

    nasmaruj se to :P

  • This is a great and wonderfull idea. Very simple and seems to be working very well. I will deffiniatly try-out this gearbox in a car or so. Brilliant idea Zblj!!!

  • Is it possible to make it compact? However you are a sort of genius..:)

I've just discover that you are the author of that.... XD zblj the best!

  • I understood this guy just fine. C'mon people, really. What I don't understand is how the mechanism actually works. In the demonstration starting @ 1:07 we can very clearly see him moving the spring loaded cam to change the gears with the meat of his thumb.

  • @EyeOnTheTV I actually was squeezing the drive axle and not moving the spring directly

  • @Zblj1987 Then you would do well to post a video of a completely hands-free demonstration.

  • @EyeOnTheTV Or you build one and see i'm not lying...

  • @Zblj1987 Touche. But why would you not present something you designed in a way that would eliminate any doubt that your claim is accurate? I'm not calling you a liar, I'm sure it works the way you describe... you've just left evidence to the contrary in your video.

  • @EyeOnTheTV I think hes just pushing on the spring to cause resistance on the output, causing the gears to change.

  • Now if only real automatic transmissions were that east to rebuild and repair...lol :D

To many parts when I did mine on my caR...lol >_>

  • HE SOUNDS LIKE CHECKOFF FROM STARTREK!!!!!! :D :D :D

  • Really neat.

Although I agree some form of clutch would be even better.

Lego should make some more parts for technical builders. For instance, harder plastic, composite or metal gears, because the teeth don't seem to enjoy being run under much load for prolonged periods. I've never had the teeth snap off, but I've come back to find grey dust appearing around them.

I used some to build a tiny ball mill for chemistry work. It was a medicine bottle with marbles in it, driven on tyres for 36h.

  • Elegant design - ale zajebałeś

  • Dude if you want your gears to last longer make a clutch.you made that a clutch shouldn't be that much harder

  • That is one very nice gear box. It would be perfect for compact engine uses

  • that's some serious lego music

  • very cool!

  • Sweet accent

  • he's grinding the gears...

  • 2nd gears kinda choppy

  • Thats is very cool.

  • can you add a clutch and gear reductions?

  • Very creative, but I use my creations for torque and power, not really speed, I use manual transmissions cause I can change the gears whenever I feel needed

  • needs a better driver its grinding jk thats cool

  • Sounds like you have a bit of gear grinding, is that just audio or is there a bit of grinding? Anywho, nice design, and dont worry I am not some idiot who will talk about english, I just feel you did a wonderful job.

  • song is >Two Steps from Hell - Heart of Courage<

  • In automatic mode, when on the verge of changing gears, wouldn't 2 sets of cogs meet up and eventually destroy the gearbox (with load) Since there is no clear gap between the gears?

You can clearly hear the problem in the video when changing gears.

Someone who as actually manage to avoid this:

/watch?v=Q1G2SylEllg Smart and compact design, but a bit selfdestructive

  • Very good design. The gear changing mechanism is good.

But I don't understand how it is automatic...automatic means it must change itself but you had to push that string to make it change gear.

  • Great idea. I love the way Lego constructions make the principles easy to understand. Oh, your english is fine as well.

  • what is the stuff u used?

  • how does the main shifter fit into the top gear? and what is the song called?

  • @TheTrainguy10 Check the instruction video link here: /watch?v=6PdzsuF4MWg

Song is steve jablonsky - my name is lincoln

  • @Zblj1987 thanks fo the info and the music sounded cool though my HD headphones lol

  • @Zblj1987 That isn't the song. This is: Two Steps From Hell - Heart Of Courage

  • the song is Two steps from hell - Heart of courage

  • /watch?v=LRLdhFVzqt4

  • @Zblj1987 Song is Two Steps From Hell - Heart of Courage?!

  • @TheTrainguy10 Song is called "Heart of Courage" by Two Steps From Hell's album Invincible

  • @TheTrainguy10 it is also the theme for mass effect 2

  • gotta like geeks :)

  • Did you ever do instructions

  • @burf2000 Yes there are!

  • @Zblj1987 Where could I find the instructions then?

  • Nicely done!! And btw, there's nothing wrong with your English! It's much better than my Slovenian :D

  • i can hardly understand you but i could make out what you were saying when you were showing your explanation. and that 3 speed gear box is AWESOME! i could only make things like NXT locks and safes and gumball machine, but nothing as ultimate as this!

  • @legochamp100 Thank you!

  • thanks ^^

  • Whats the music?

  • @Klafti1 heart of courage - two steps from hell

  • but still cool disign

  • The 2 gear sounds like it has trouble when driving

  • Only problem is it is not synchromesh, so the teeth will wear out, its rather bulky too

  • @xesionprince

So where is your solution?! (Checked your channel, nothing of the kind...)

  • Fantastic work, I've been thinking of something very similar. This video has inspired me to pull out my old boxes of legos and get building!! Keep up the good work

  • if you cant find it, grind it lol

  • haha loved the dramatic music when you took it apart. LOL

and your english is good so don't worry.. I think the accent made it more interesting!!

  • Nicjasno of lpe power (technic engine shop) made exactly the same disign only better (moer complex and suitable for higher forces on the system).... so pretty weird you thought it up this morning, sorry if i am accusing you wrongly but hey ;)

  • aww i love lego but i cant afford lego motors and new set i got a 3 yr old 3 in 1 set and dont got any gears or motors for lego
