At the speed they hit a ref cannot tell if he is hitting with just the part above the wrist or if the knuckles are also hitting as they are just an inch or two away. You hit with the soft part on the jaw, but an inch higher your knuckes may be hitting or not, a ref could NEVER tell.

The rules state no closed fist strikes, and he broke the rule. I am glad he won in the end, but rules are rules.
