Out of curiosity, what year is it? I have a 2004 and it has a locking differential. Never used it to see how well it worked though. You were pretty stuck.
I feel your pain NEILWT...I have plowed snow commercially in California, Colorado and Idaho. And I learned a long time ago to carry tow chain or snatch strap in my equipment. I have had my share of "ditch witches" as well. I agree with you, skidsteers and tractors do have an advantage at self extracation. As we all know, there is no "perfect" single piece of equipment. And no "perfect" operator. But then again, that's what makes life interesting!
Ask me to show you a snow removal machine that will never get stuck and I will show you a helicopter with a plow! I've owned several pieces of equipment, including both of the ones on this video. Machines don't get themselves stuck...the operators get them stuck!
@nlevis57 I agree, but until you get stuck in several different situations you dont know the full capabilities of the machine. The small Toolcat tires, inability to lock diffs and limited travel on the implement are no match for the tractors tires, locking diff and ability to push yourself out with the bucket . In this case I just got too close to the ditch and couldnt get out. The toolcat is a life saver in my operation but I think I will put a winch on it this winter.
@JimsEquipmentShed I tried every possible position of the light switches but it still wouldnt come out of the ditch. Perhaps some undercarriage lights to melt the snow?
@NEILVVT Ha! not a bad idea, it looked like you already had some. B-) My RTV 900would last about eight minutes with those. Kubota has a little baby alternator, and a battery that would make a power wheels jeep fail in three minutes or less.

It got stuck, even with all of those lights? Those should have helped somehow.
