The methods of measuring CO2 amounts from ice does not account for all of the variables. It assumes things, and in science, assumed things equate to a theory at best. Maybe an example will illustrate this better: before trains were popular many "experts" believed the constant high speeds of 30mph during travel would cause terminal illness and mental disturbance. That wasn't the case. Global Warming research is relatively new and unclear. We are not ready to institute a world-tax for it

I don't profess to be an expert in climatology.. but i did look over chunks of the computer model code that was stolen along with the emails, and it is littered with data swaps and alterations, completely unprofessional and would suggest they really are trying to "hide the decline"

Trouble with tree rings is that many factors influence their thickness. Temp, water, CO2, fertiliser etc. Then "Lord of the tree rings" Mann goes so far as to exclude and hide data in a file marked "censored", when reinstated clearly shows the WMP.

im not a climatologist or whatever, but i may point out that just because something happened before doesnt mean its a good thing. also, while glaciers do recede and procdede in a cycle, recently they have been receding faster thn predicted. just ask the eskimos. also, no glacier floating in water(i think you are thinking of ice burgs) are factored into rising sea level models. a lot of ice is currently on elevated land. but thats chaning as it melts.

The methods of measuring CO2 amounts from ice does not account for all of the variables. It assumes things, and in science, assumed things equate to a theory at best. Maybe an example will illustrate this better: before trains were popular many "experts" believed the constant high speeds of 30mph during travel would cause terminal illness and mental disturbance. That wasn't the case. Global Warming research is relatively new and unclear. We are not ready to institute a world-tax for it

The oldest recorded temperatures in the word are for Central England,these temps pre-date the industrail revolution by 20 years,the ID started in England also.
These temps that are freely available show that CE was within 2 degreed F of what it is today in 2009,as the ID started in England and we hadn't yet started the ID man could have had no effect of the climate up until then.

he paper in question is the Mann, Bradley and Hughes (1998) Nature paper on the original multiproxy temperature reconstruction, and the 'trick' is just to plot the instrumental records along with reconstruction so that the context of the recent warming is clear. Scientists often use the term "trick" to refer to a "a good way to deal with a problem", rather than something that is "secret", and so there is nothing problematic in this at all.

Well it was actually multiple emails talking about manipulating the data, discrediting scientists who didn't agree with their findings, even discrediting journals that publish opposing theories.
I don't profess to be an expert in climatology.. but i did look over chunks of the computer model code that was stolen along with the emails, and it is littered with data swaps and alterations, completely unprofessional and would suggest they really are trying to "hide the decline"

Its not just one email. It is several. Then there is the comments in the computer model code. According to this report it is one email, but that is a huge understatement of the fact.
Several emails discuss how to hide the real current temps and how to kick people who disagree out of the process, especially peer-review and being published in scientific journals.
I suggest you go read the emails. You will see nothing is out of context and there is clear fraud.

It's actually several dozen emails that contain incriminating words, and several scientists who are implicated -- not just at the University of East Anglia -- but also scientists in the US with whom they corresponded. He only wants to focus on how Jones manipulated data, but it wasn't one sentence in one email.
He didn't mention the collusion to delete emails and data when they were steering the IPCC reports and under FOI requests.
They also got people removed from the IPCC and journals who disagree with them.
The list goes on and on. I would no more believe an AGW scientist right now than a politician.

And before you close your mind to this comment let me tell you that I'm a PhD Molecular biologist and I"ve done research at major institutes for 30 years. I know science. The problem is from those emails it appears that the peer review process in climate science was corrupted. Without proper peer review what do we know? Climate change science is driven by politics. When there are political motives to reach a scientific conclusion that is dangerous.

Well I can certainly understand the argument of loosing faith in the idea of peer-reviewed science. I'm not going to comment more on that right here. However, like anything in the market, you would expect that if these revelations were as important as you suggest, you would see climate stocks drop like a rock - but they are not, so it seems that the market still has faith in science being right about this, and that the politicians will follow through on climate legislation favoring those stocks
