  • Very Original???

  • So first he says it's original, then he says it is a mash-up.

    What?

  • LOL none of the movie is really original. Still my favourite movie by far, but it's been done, although not as well before.

  • hahahahaha

  • These are cat or lion-like creatures. NOT elves. Jesus. I wish people would look at the eyes and noses on the NaVi a little better.

  • Thank you.

  • u moron... y dont u look at their ears??

  • As technology advances -- IDEAS ARE LIABLE TO CHANGE FROM IDEAS ORIGINALLY THOUGHT-UP 14 YEARS AGO. So i'm not upset with Cameron. I liked what I saw. I didn't have high expectations because let face it - you're not gonna be satified with a finished production after following Cameron's "secret"project, 24/7 for the last 4 years. I'm just fed-up with illogical pessimistic geeks who think they can do better XD !!!!!

  • I'm at least glad the trailer will be released on the 21st.

  • I think the footage was good, and the story is interecsting, but the cgi was not photoreal. no close. it still has that weta faded look, dont get me wrong it was incredibly detailed, but on pandora it was kinda cartoonish or something, still very impressive, but there was something fakey about it.

  • was it the fact that it was so...fantastical? that it was harder for people w/o that imagination and see the cgi better, if you know what i mean. Or it wasnt davy jones amazing omg this cant be cgi type? b/c to date davy jones from pirates is the best cgi, also in lotr minas tirith looked incredible, if it looks better than what i mentioned above this movie will make my brain completely go into overdrive

  • The cgi is great, the backgrounds are incredible - but when real characters are interacting with avatars, the avatars, for some reason, are softer focus. They look solid, but not as solid as Davy jones - i think it was better lighting and reflections, and glistening on davy jones. Personally i think ILM is a better effects studio than weta, even things like gollum and kong, although they look great, dont fully blend in.

  • 5 months 'till release, dude.

  • I know. I saw the footage at comic-con several weeks ago. I'm a journalist.

  • Wasn't Minas Tirith done using a miniature? and thats why it looked amazing?

  • some shots were. but the shot where gandalf is riding up with pippen was ALL cgi, also the shot where the nazgul are swooping down was down in cgi aswell. lotr had great cgi for its time, and im expecting avatar to do wayyyyy better b/c of all the hype

  • "for its time"

I think the effects in the Rings films have held up quite nicely over the last 6 years.

  • yeah

It was a massive model that almost didn't fit in the shooting stage

  • It was the intention,, do you really think they failed to make it photorealistic with a budget of $400.000.000? the reason i believe the movie and characters are compelling is solelely the fact that it feels like fantasy and scifi at the same time, and to me, the look of Pandora(and its residents) could not have been translated with photorealistic CGI.

  • i'd be happy just to see one frakkin minute of footage! you're killing me james cameron!

  • "frakkin"

    nice.

  • "very original its a mash up of other ideas"

wow people are so brain dead today they can't even realize its all recycled

  • well when the story was something written 14 years ago i doubt alot is recycled..

  • It was 24 minutes of footage and if someone were to record it, it wouldn't look good because it's in 3D. James Cameron said he wanted to spread the word that those same clips will be shown at Imax's all over on August 21st so you can go see it.

  • STFU... dont do spoilers

  • The armored suits in "Matrix Revolutions" resembled the armored suit in James Cameron's "Aliens".

  • Everyones just "borrowing" from each other these days anyway ha

  • these days?...its been that way always, its not what u use, is how you use those things, which is why district 9 is so awsome and transformers 2 sucked ballz

  • Film makers have been borrowing form other Ideas almost forver.. I saw a video that showed like 20 movies that Star Wars had gotten different ideas from...

  • @phexus82

    you mean jamesnintendonerd? :)

well there is a sentence that fits: its better to steal a good idea then to develop a bad one by ur own

  • written before matrix. you have to remember, EVERYTHING about movies u think Avatar is copying was written for avatar 14 years ago. so you mean the ones from the matrix look like the ones from Avatar

  • bullshit

  • why did no one have the manners to bootleg the footage?!

  • thats wat im sayin, they can do it for new moon but not for AVATAR which apparently took alot more work, and money to make!?!

  • Me wants me AVATAR Now!!!!!!!

  • @JouninKS so do i

  • Is that Morgan Webb talkin'? sounds ike her

  • 24 minutes actually

  • they saw it wow

  • I think they only saw 15 minutes of it.
