I can't remember why, but the whole region is VERY french influenced. That's why there is the "french" quarter in new orleans.

@Policemanofficer Back in the early 1800s, Louisiana (as well as a huge chunk of the middle of the country) belonged to France, but was then later given up in the Louisiana purchase. So that's why there's still a big French influence down there.
