mate i subscribed to your channel amd then realised your not the only one posting with expert village! please could you do your own channel with just your stuff on pleeeease xx
ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..........you lost me at HOW TO MAKE......... and after that everthing just went blank to me you know your stuff
Your mic cord matters too. You forgot that often overlooked fact. I use Mogami and Blue only for mics. All other cords (even down to my HDMIs) are all premium Monster. If you are spending under $100 for your XLR cord you shouldn't be recording with it.
i know this due is serious about what he does because he made a cringe face when he said Guitar Center...i make the same face when i think about talking to one of those idiots..
i liked your video, i took a lot from it, seems like you have a good knowledge of mixing, i am trying to get some feedback on some new stuff i posted if you wouldn't mind checking it out the songs "Cryptic" and "Parallel" by anestheticbeats, I appreciate any feedback
@MRxxFREESTYLE no hes saying that in todays world, if you record yourself, it is really cheap. But the fall back is that you need to learn how to do all this stuff but with practice and learning you will get better at it in time.
can somebody please master some vocals? professionally......its hip hop/rap vocals. I just need somebody to master the vocals and edit the acapellas as well.
@djlexxx What's worse is that the captions was making mistakes! It mistook "Even at Guitar Center" for "Even a guitarist", and "digitally" for "dizzily" O_o
uh, maybe you should get someone that can actually understand what they guy is saying to do the subtitles...eg, at around 1:00 "you're doing it dizzily" should be "you're doing it digitally". and there's more mistakes too.
this guy seams like he's not really into what he's sayin'.....it seams as though some one had to talk him into doin' this u kno'..........theres better ones out there besides this character......
I bought this set cheapbeginner set - a Fc1 Mic. for recording vocals and guitars, and a Tube Mb - i gotten some OK recordings from it ( I'm working in Reaper- From Cockos).
the big challenge for me is how to make the vocals sound like their in front, but loud so they kill the other instruments, if you understand what i mean ?
im sic of engineers. what do they know ?? to all musicians... learn to do it your self. it will take a while but its not to difficult and you will have a better sound and be more happy for it at the end of the day. dont pay an engineer that much!!!
@drhandstand I don't even know why all those idiots gave you a thumbs down on this. I completely agree with you. I'm a producer as well as an artist and I totally believe in doing it yourself. Because as I always say, the more you know how to do, the less money comes out of your pocket to pay someone ELSE to do it.
One more thing. In agreement with the man on the video. You do have to develop an ear for getting good recordings. You must develop and ear to hear distortion, to hear flat notes, to hear muddy sound, and to hear many other problems. It takes study and time.
For home recording, the best advice is Directional Microphones. Directional mics cut down on bad acoustical reflections and unwanted outside sound. This advice from a pro.
Do you recommend a preamp for vocals on the studio mic? Also, I'm not impressed with reverb in cubase. Do you recommend an external reverb device or vocal effects unit?
$150/hr. at the Record Plant or Ocean Way or anything the level you are talking about - will get you a runner to go and grab you food. It will not get you studio time.
If you want to sound like a pro, you're talking several hundred per hour for the studio time. That gets you the studio and the assistant engineer that comes with the studio.
On top of that, you have to pay the engineer fees, which is going to be as much if not more than the studio fee. Know your facts before you mislead.
there is no real rules for mics and peaking and stuff it's about getting the right sound and using your tools properly to edting and mix ur tracks together you don't need to get the hottest signal.
this dude is way smarter than that other drunk expert village guy. and regards to mcturk17, mics are important, but mixing is made easier by great recording.
it's a big mistake to say, "oh we'll just fix that in the mixing stage." you are better off shifting the mic placement and trying to get a better take than spending hours, gating, EQing and effecting your track to make it sound halfway decent. it's more about the recording than the mixing, unless you have no talent.
true lilpac down there is wrong you need good/great mics cause you and only edit the sound that is captured so if you capture shit you are only polishing shit. Ya gotta capture gold to refine it.
I really appreciate simple down to earth advice that revolves around governing principles rather than tips & 'secrets'. It's usually the best advice there is. Thanks again
yea i know i was thinking that..what is used for a peak, -2 Db on the board is what I learned in school but I dont know if thats what you really want?

TO make it sound like today? Brickwall limiter as hell, clipping all over. ;o) You just have to run with the loudness war. haha
SaGruenwdt 4 months ago
@SaGruenwdt but how do you get it that loud without it distorting?
Burkhardt0121 8 hours ago
@Burkhardt0121 in fact you can't get it loud without any distorting. ;o) The trick is to optimize both, distorting and volume.
