very entertaining, who cares if its not inkeeping with all these apparent rules and regulations , after all, shorts are about creativity and i think a lot of atmosphere was created in such a short time space. narratives are good, but these film makers have tackled something much more necessary, A BIT OF FUN, something all you hacked off nerds obviously have no concept of.
right up there with Clint Eastwoods UNFORGIVEN because you cant be forgiven for this terrible short, wrong music for the opening and end, and actor thats good at acting like he's acting, and no story, LOL im just giving you a hard time, the shooting was pretty good and the camera work, keep at it you show some talent.
I just wanted to say that because you have a cowboy with a hat and a gun does not make this "short film" a western. A short film has a problem and conclusion. i didn't get right but i must say the filming was really good and keep up the good work.
@chrisariz91 This was a test in the look of a western, it was not intended to have a plot. This was a spontaneous work created as practice for when I shot my longer, scripted western, "Coyote Falls". A trailer for that is available on my channel. Thanks.
Yes, this is normal Vixia HF s100. I highly recommend this camcorder. Be aware however that this video has been slightly color corrected in Final Cut Express during editing.
Some things I wish I had known as soon as I got this camera:
- Always shoot in 24p. Not only does this produce better video, it avoids the problems with interlacing that can result in using the 60i frame-rate.
Also, any tripod will work but get one with the peg and the screw. Also a built in bubble level is a really nice feature for shooting in rough terrain.
The camera does have a port for an external "mini-jack" microphone. A microphone is not an essential, as the camera does have its own internal stereo mics, but a shotgun mic is good for larger projects were sound is important.
Sorry djney28 but I accidentally deleted your comment....
I highly recomend Final Cut Express, but be aware that it is mac only and the learning curve would be steep if you have never edited before. if you do have a mac, I would recommend taking a week or two to learn imovie, then moving up to FCE. This will make it far easier to learn.
Everything about this deserves maaaad respect! Very nice work! Good acting too.

Very cool video. Was this made with a stock VIXIA HF S100? I am buying one soon. Any suggestions as to what tripod or any accessories to buy? Thanks.
