I've tried Picasa but i recently bought Photoshop Elements 9 which is a lot better and more professional. I guess Picasa is one of the best free organizers you can download. Besides the basic stuff which is good in Picasa i didn't like the face recognition photos (top left) in the map. There's a trick to delete them but they keep coming back. Very annoying.

the reason it does it is because it an automatic process.. and just because its loading it in the software doesn't mean its uploading it to the net... It scans your pc for photos no matter where they are on your devices or pc... it does this to show you all your pics so you can choose what to do with them. Uploads are manual unless you choose for it not to be.

For Google standards, Picasa is a S T U P I D software. It started to load 10 gigs of my pictures without asking. There is no way to stop it even when you hit cancel it goes on to add next folder. Worse it puts all pictures in one place , so much for organizing help. It went straight to trash.

@Mebu50 I´m glad to see others also have the same extremely irritating experience. I´ve never tried Picasa before, and saw some advertising about how easy and brilliant it was. Two hours ago, I installed it on my Mac, and automatically it started importing all my photos without asking me if that was my purpose. After two hours of anger, frustration and wishing very bad things to the people who made this, I´ve decided to never use Picasa again.

One surprising, not featured, function is that upon initial use, if you allow it to catalog your entire drive, PICASA will find images you thought were lost, deleted or even never knew you had.

PICASA has found images on my computer that I consider pornographic and/or inappropriate and have no idea where they came from. As I am the father of 2 young girls, I appreciate the ability to occasionally review what images may be there and get rid of those unwanted files.

Picasa is an awesome photo editing and organizing app! I use this for organizing and enhancing my photos and it's really powerful despite its ease of use.

However, I would like the "Focal B&W" feature to be improved in the later iterations of this program. Just having a circular area is a little bit limiting. Free form would be great =D Just saying. Keep up the great work guys!

I didn't see a "resize" option. I take photos at 2816 x 2112 resolution so that I can later zoom in to look for details if needed. But, when I use those photos in reports, I have to reduce them to 640 x 480. I saw that photos can be cropped, but can they be resized, particularly with the aspect ratio preserved?

@27031501 Yes, use the Export button, make a file you get to choose all sorts of things including a 'watermark' like your name or initials. LEFT AND RIGHT CLICK ON EVERYTHING to learn the most.  Also use the Help and keep asking questions everything is available. I love Picasa. Try sending everything to your own address first to check out sizes, etc. Then sent them to friends.
