The vocalist at the very beginning is Treg[oweth] Brown, who played guitar with Red in 1930. Years later, he went to Hollywood, becoming a sound effects editor at Leon Schlesinger's cartoon studio (which was bought out by his distributor, Warner Bros. in 1944), and stayed with Warners right through the mid-'60s, creating all those memorable sounds heard in "Merrie Melodies" and "Looney Tunes", AND winning an Aceadmy Award for his work on the 1965 feature, "The Great Race".
