I had one but a truck hit it!1 the best dog ive ever had he was a loving dog and protected my family and my other lil dog from coyotes! like is u agree! R.I.P.Toby
This breed is good in the house with people or surrounded by 300 acres where no one can hear them. If they are left outside they will bark non stop at nothing most of the time. Not a good neighborhood dog at all.
@bluegama500 Not quite sure but I think you are right. I had a pure Maremma who was certainly over 60kg so they can be big. I believe Komondors and others can be bigger.
@pupsjammin it's italian so it's pronounced like "mah-rém-mah", but actually that's the name of the region where it comes from (south of toscana, north of lazio). the name of the breed is with the adjective and not with the noun, so it's "pastore(shepard) maremmano"

They are called the feline dogs because they are very indipendent much more than other sheepdogs,,also concerning the affection they demonstrate.
They really are not for everyone unless you have a pair of sheeps

They look like my great pyreneese. I didn't know about this breed. Beautiful dogs. The tails are different is all I can tell.
