We feel sad when we see a dog getting eaten, but in reality it's only because we have dogs as pets and are emotionally attached to them. If we had chickens as pets we would feel the same way about chickens and eat dogs for dinner. Eating meat is not really efficient but we're not in the year 2100 where we have magical pills that gives us what we need.  Until then, eat away whatever you like.
