You know what the interesting thing is, besides the melancholy of Angela and James in this scene? That you carried the knife everywhere but could never use it against the monsters. I know it would have probably been a waste of animation but in all fairness it was a waste of inventory. Plus you had to do certain things to get the "Water" ending.

another great thing about silent hill 2 is that the other characters has a lot of depth in their story... I mean, Angela and Eddie are not connected to James problem... they're another person with their own personal problem which led them to silent hill. If the developer decided to make silent hill 2 from Angela's perspective, that would be interesting too

Okay I've always been a little bit confused about Angela referring to her mother as "momma". In the beginning of the game she's like, "I'm looking for my momma! ... I mean, my mom..." And I'm pretty sure she says momma about 3 more times throughout the game after that. What's the whole significance of her acting so childlike?

Looking for her mother. She says this at the beginning of the game. How she got summoned there isn't made clear. The common assumption is that something just "called" her there. Maybe she got a letter like James did, but from her mother. Not everybody in Silent Hill sees the same monsters. They see monsters that represent their sins. If two characters happen to see the same monster, it means they share a similar enough sin to be able to both see it.
