First heard about Albert Lee from a promotion, for a gig he was having in Canberra Australia, thought he sounds like an interesting character, went along with my wife and a couple of friends, and got blown away thanks Albert hope you visit Canberra again.
Albert is a great musician and strikes me (having seen him) as a really nice bloke, any one who disagree's then as stated before put your stuff on you tube let us know where your playing and we can all come along and cast judgement over your performance..
Thank you Topanga, that needed to be said and you said it beautifully. Albert Lee probably has more fans that are totally talented themselves. Vince Gill to name just one. -Jimmy
Interesting take on a wonderful song. I prefer Leo's version, just because I love his guitar playing, but Albert's a better singer. Love to see Leo gettin' some love.
I love Albert and it is so refreshing to see a gifted artist who has no interest in image because he is just interested in the music..............................Simon Cowell please not : this is a true musician
I admire Albert Lee, but this version just doesn't cut it. Too slow and he's changing the melody. There is something infectious about the rhythm Leo Kottke gets on his guitar that makes the whole thing work.
@harvey1954 yeah i agree!!!!! it doesnt matter that the song sounds good!!!!! it just matters that it doesnt work for you!!!!!! thanks for commenting though!!!!!!!!!!! i am sure you are a great musician!!!! everything you play is most likely a master piece!!!!!!!!!!! fag!!!!!!!!!
@standad445 I'm old enough to remember Albert Lee when he was in Heads, Hands and Feet and have seen him play live with the Everly Bros. so I know he's a great guitarist. That is part of the reason I watched the video in the first place (along with the fact that the song is a favorite of mine). My own musical talent has nothing to do with whether I can like a song or not so I'm sorry if it gets your panties in a twist. I was not impressed with his version of this song. Cultural Nazis bore me.
@standad445 People who think that everyone must think the same way they do. I admire Albert Lee, but I didn't think this was one of his better efforts. If you liked it fine, but that does not mean I have to agree.
@harvey1954 cool!! why not just post what you said as your original post?????? the guy busts his ass!!!!!!! you dont have to agree but try to respect!!!!!!!!! on a side note i hate women you dig dating goofy looking mother fuckers!!!!
@standad445 Braindead, read the very first words of my "original post". Even Albert admits on the video he "doesn't know it all". You're the one that disagreed with my original post, by the way. Your comment, " i hate women" says it all. This 'goofy look" has worked real well with the babes, too.
@harvey1954 the last sentence of my previous post did not apply to you!!!!!!!!! i dont like the version of this song either man!!!!!!! lets chat!!!!!!!!!!
If you like ALs keyboard skills listen to "Monte Nido" on his 'Gagged but not Bound' album, superb artistry. Every bit as good a pianist as guitarist, just listen.
Albert sings great, as well as being a guitar virtuoso. Great talent! He's more talented than 99% of the big names in music. He deserves much more recognition.
Albert is awesome! I can't believe the comment "20 years later, same shirt"..what an awful thing to say about a talented artist that is not ego tripped out.Would you say that about Cash? Albert Lee is not shallow like forfunk49...what have you done lately? I don't see you on tour, just rude remarks about beautiful musicians,& for the ones here that are NOT shallow, visit Albert official myspace (in music). Much love to a hard working man that I never heard him say a bad thing about anyone.topanga
@chryzzie Why can't "20 years later, same shirt" be said lightly in good humor by someone that admires Albert? Get off your fucking high horse and learn to take a joke.
Albert takes this to song a place it belongs, Leo didn't put all the words into this great song Albert does not need words to create this wonderfull interpretation. Such a talent.
AL - my favourite muso of all time. Legendary guitarist, amazing pianist, fantastic interpreter of great songs. Loves what he does. And is so humble with it. Every time I see him and the Hogans live there's something different and the new CD is a BLAST. So rare these days to see guys for the '60's still hot to trot. "Can Your Grandpa Rock and Roll Like this?". Er .. no.
He plays a variety of stringed instruments as well as piano, don't these multi-talented people get right up your nose ?.

I wouldn't worry about comments like that.
Knowing Albert (and I've seen his shows many times and met him a few times), he'd laugh like a drain.
Never sure whether listening to Albert is a good thing for a guitarist. He could inspire you, or make you bin your guitar.
Genius, and top bloke as well.
