I'm all heirloomed up, planted some 'Purple Calabash' and 'Carbon'. Waiting for fruit. I'll have every color and size one would want, with something like 100 plants of 25 varieties. What a cool side hobby. If you are going to garden, why grow anything But heirlooms. 500+ varieties of tomatoes, many of which are unique in color and taste. Plus many varieties that beat ANYTHING you can buy (some don't store, ship well so farms gave up despite great taste).
YUM!! I received some heirloom seeds in the mail this year in a seed trade and can't wait to try out my new Black Prince. Never had one of the purple ones before. *drool*

how come purple tomatoes are hard to find?? from what i have read, they taste better and are more nutritious than the red guys.

These are REAL tomatoes. You can eat these with a fork and knife like it's a meal.
