Visual Studio makes it easy to develop GU driven programs - a hell of a lot easier than learning the Win32 [or whatever it will be nowadays] API and programming ALL THOSE FUNCTIONS by scratch... though the downside of Visual Studio is all the bloat it adds to even simple Hello World console apps. (
HOLY SHIT. I looked out my window, and realized that I just finally learned how to make something useful with the Microsoft Foundation Classes.. and then I saw a lady waking a dog that was taller than she was.. symbolic?? I think so.
@Dale9987 It depends on what software you are using. If you are using dev c++ or codeblocks, then press F9, if you are using visual studio, then press F5 :D
i can handle basic on my calculator like a pro, i can do anything on it (as long as i don't need more then 20 variables), but i suck at C++.
Why don't you add a Boolean that when on places a circle otherwise creates a cross?
so it goes through an if then else statement, if for the Boolean and places a places a cross then it changes the Boolean to the opposite and then you do it all again in the else section and just loop it all.
@thebiman Go to Tools>Options then click "Text Editor" and then "All Languages," then you can simply check in the "Line numbers" box under display and click "OK."
dev-c++ is the worst thing ever. believe me, i started with dev-c++, and i was thinking it was the best for at least one year. you have code::blocks instead.
@Kryomega Very imperfect, but certainly not "the worst" of the worst by any means. I nowadays use WXDevC++ for non-GUI programming, and C# for my GUI apps. :D
@Kryomega I noticed compilation is slower than w/ "standard" Dev-CPP, still have t see if the debuger was fixed in that offshoot of Dev-C++ as well. [Though there is a fix for the debugger, a version where it doesn't need to be patched is great, if one exists that is[
Microsoft Visual C++ Express is Free and among the best around. As a side benefit if you ever work in a company as a programmer they will likely be using Visual C++ professional - which is the same with a few extra bells and whistles.

How do you actually run C++ code? I have all the scripts for different games like hangman etc but have no idea how to run them.
