  • The only thing that I like that whines are those engines :]

  • SIEMPRE ME HAN GUSTADO ESTOS MODELOS DE AVIONES X LO ESPACIOSO QUE SON, LO BELLO QUE ES Y EL SONIDO DE LAS TURBINAS... ME ENCANTA Y ME HACE RECORDAR CUANDO LA AEROLINEA AVENSA EMPEZÓ A PRESTAR SUS SERVICIOS EN CUMANÁ CON ESTE BOEIGN 727 EN LA CIUDAD DE CUMANÁ VENEZUELA PARA EL AÑO 1980 AUN SIENDO NIÑO.

  • I sure do miss flying that three holer !! Best looking jet in the sky even now

  • RIP Continental airlines.

  • heh everything this guy post is LOUD!

  • The sound of pure heaven...

  • I didn't know that Continental Airlines had any 727s in their fleet. Very interesting.

  • @epopchock not anymore.

  • AWESOME!

  • Loud and proud!

  • This aircraft, N27783 is a B727-232A ordered by Delta in 1973 (N454DA) and later sold to Peoples Express as N515PE.

  • Is the 727 similar size to one of the 737 family? It just seems so much bigger!

  • hydrocarbon hurricane......

  • Which Airport is this takeoff ?

  • @gdj064 It's clearly labeled in the description and title... SXM.

  • @gdj064 princess juliana international airport - st maarten

  • @XXXGhostGrenadeXXX They have the same JT8D engines

  • Lovely old planes, and not quite dinosaurs yet: Delta used theirs as late as 03, and 500 were still in revenue service as late as 08 per Wikipedia. They can operate on grass and gravel airstrips because their high-mounted, low-bypass engines don't suck in FOD like the low-slung engines a similar-sized A320 or B737 would.

  • not as loud as an unhushed bac 1-11!!!!

  • but not nearly as loud as a DC-8-21 or 707-120 turbojet!

  • All jetliners should be unhushed.

  • One of my favorite airplanes. Just gorgeous.

  • love trijets!

  • I went to an aviation school next to laguardia airport and everytime a 727 or a 737-200 took off from RWY 4 some of the florescent lights would fall off the ceiling.

  • 5 dislikes porbably TU-154 or DC-9 fans

  • @ghettoperson257 hey man the dc -9 is a nice reliable bird

  • @kambridge967

    So is the tu-154.

  • LOL i was 1 month old when this was taped

  • watch my tribute video of Boeing 727 Recommended for fans of BOEING_727 LIKE ME

  • I have lived close to Manchester Airport in the UK for a few years back in the 80's and in my experience, the only commercial airplanes that could match or even exceed the noise decibels generated by the 727s upon takeoff are the BAC 1-11s and Vickers VC-10s.

BAC 1-11s and the VC-10s could wake up the dead for miles around. Just kidding, but you know what I mean...

  • Tive o previlégio de voar num Boeing 727-200 na época da TransBrasil, para mim um dos aviões mais belo já construído...

  • They did stretch the 727, it started off as 727-300, they dropped the third engine and eventually it became the 757....true story

  • @mmarl2k1 they dropped the #2 engine in the tail and lower the tail to be a fuselage mounted tail and not a T-tail plus they had to add 4 wheel units for the main landing gear oh ana fyi the third engine is actually known as the #2 engine not #3

  • @mmarl2k1 I never knew that: VERY interesting. That would explain why the 757 is so fantastic!

  • that is one nice looking plane... :)

  • still fly them and love them.....

  • Flew many many times and whenever scheduled flights always checked for the 727, only plane wanted to fly (747 second). Favored Continental, their pilots flew the plane! Take off and climb...no pussyfooting around. A truly great, or should I say, outstanding aircraft...really miss it.

  • @ghettoperson257: The B-29 had one as well.

  • sounds like a fighter Jet, without the afterburners

  • I've said it before and I'll say it again: if it's not a Boeing I ain't going!

  • at 0:16 if no one has noticed, the plane has a retractable tail skid to prevent dangerous tailstrikes for over rotation especially with a 727 because when they takeoff they always look like they want to strike the tail

  • 727 engine sounds are loud. i was going on a cruise on port everglades which is by ft.lauderdale-hollywood intl airport. i saw a capital cargo 727 taking off. plane is loud as hell but it was amazing

  • well... it doesnt seem, loud, nope still doesnt, ahh he throttling up, full throttle.................AHHHHH HOLY CRAP

  • @TheBritishRAF remember in real life things are amplified than on video

  • I flew a lot in the early 80's and I always felt more relaxed when I was on a 72. Just a terrific bird.

  • THIS SOUND IS SO RELAXING,I COULD LIVE RIGHT NEXT TO AN AIRPORT FOR ALL I CARE,I LOVE THE SOUND OF THOSE JET ENGINES OVERHEAD!!!!!!!

  • @jb42682 Turbojets. The turbofans have a high-bypass front fan

  • @A3R0SPACE054 No, it's not turbojets, it's actually low-bypass turbofans.

The JT8D was quite a loud engine though.

  • "AWESOME"

  • Oh I miss these old birds so much, I was so sad when United got rid of theres

  • noob question...if the plane has a narrower body is it prone to less stability than wide bodies?

Just a thought, I've been on tons of Embraer 190's and they are not the best in stability...on the other hand, the A319 and A320 you barely even feel it taking off or touching down at similar weather conditions and such....

  • @superfestiva it depnds on three things, how the plane is built, how modern it is, and how strong it is

  • @ghettoperson257

please explain me more...Embraers are very modern just like the Airbuses...

  • @superfestiva EMBRAER IS CRAP!!!!

  • I miss flying in Birds like this :( Good times!

  • the 777 will never be replaced it has the longest range of any commercial aircraft and will just be renewed. the 737 will most likely be replaced by a new narrow body, yes i understand that, but the 787 will eventually be the main fleet for a shorter range company. transat for instance, you don't hear about them much where i live but they fly 330 and under. whats stopping them from replacing there smaller aircraft with a quieter more fuel and environmentally friendly jet?

  • fine but a thing of the past. you gotta look forward to more fuel and economy efficient planes the b737 and a320 are still around for a reason. pretty soon those will be on their way our and the b787 and a350 will take there place

  • @crazyshanerboy Um. Are you stupid? The 787 is not meant to replace the 737.

  • @scaremenga a no? in 20 years what will be around? the dc9 is on its way out after 20 years, add 20 more and the 738 will be obsolete, with the dreamliner at the bottom. in the last couple years with the a380 and the new 747-8, airbus and boeing are gonna stride to put those in the same position and bring in the future of aviation. aviation is never finished. my point was merely look to the future never dwell on the past or present

  • @crazyshanerboy What the hell? The A380 is in it's own market. And the 747-8 and 787 are "replacing" the 747-400 and 767/777, respectively. Boeing will either make a new 737NG or create an entirely new narrowbody short-medium range aircraft.

Your original comment seems to imply that the 787 will replace the 737. If that's now what you meant, never mind.

  • I have a lot of ass time in both the Boeing 727 and the McDonald Douglas dc-9,md-88 both fine air[lanes to bad they are almost all retired there better plane than the smaller ones used today.

  • I'd have to agree with the other poster..

BAC 1-11s and the VC-10s were the loudest. The 727s are just a notch below those two.

It should be interesting to find out how the residents who lived close to major airports during the 60's, 70's and 80's managed put up with all the noise generated by those aircraft.

  • No airplane just like the 727.

  • The 8D in JT8D is the face that aviation bucks and pilots alike make when they hear one of these bad boys spooling up on the take-off run.

  • In my experience, the 727s are NOT the loudest during takeoffs, although they're certainly among the loudest..

BAC 1-11s, in my view, are the loudest. A plane like that taking off over a congested freeway can surely cause a lot of annoyance and complaints among drivers and, possibly, loosen up the traffic. You wouldn't even hear a Harley Davidson coming behind you in full throttle. It's that loud..

  • I love the sound of the JT8Ds!!!

  • nothin beats the sound of an unhush kitted 727 roarin down the runway

  • @6V92TA and DC-9

  • Beautiful! There will never be another like the 727!

  • neighborhoodballers, they stopped making 727's back in the early '80's if I remember correctly. The reason the airlines don't use them anymore is mainly due to operating costs. That and it was easier to add the newer turbofans to the 737. The 727 lives on as a freighter.

  • look how big the 747 looks in the backgroud...Beastly

  • thanks for tellin me it was loud otherwise by now my speakers would be ruined

  • Yeah, a retired 727 skipper I know says flying the 727 was more fun than sex!

  • @Skyflite now that's a quote i'll always remember "flying the 727 was more fun than having sex" that's a cool skipper that you know

  • the L-1011 tristar and the DC-10 were bot quieter and larger than the 727 haha. i went on one of the last 727 fligghts on northwest, and it was LOUD

  • Great video, i miss the 727 not being in service

  • I've flown on 727s many, many times on TWA, Braniff, and Continental. Fantastic airplane. A retired 727 captain I know who flew for American said they were the best planes Boeing every built. I agree!

  • there is a shiny 727 parked up close to the perimeter fence at Southend EGMC. I did not know what it was at first but it is now my favourite plane!

  • Now it's bye bye Continental...merging with United Airlines. Will it mean another great name from aviation is gone?

  • @fellowbear its a sad time for the city of houston. we are losing one of the best airlines in the world

  • maintenant, le B727 on ne peut plus le voir qu'en video. c'etait un tres bel avion, unique en son genre.

  • They are low-bypass turbojets. What books call the fan is actually the low pressure compressor. Engines like the GE CFM56 series like on the 737-300 and newer are turbofans with a true fan up front.

  • @maousn75 "low bypass turbojets" What? There's low-bypass turboFANS and high-bypass turbofans but no low-bypass turbojets. Bypass ratio didn't matter in turbojets since basically ALL of them had the SAME bypass ratio.

I know this comment is over 7 months old and you probably realized your mistake since then but still.

  • @Quadunit404 All turbojets have the same bypass ratio. NONE! (although I think that's what you were trying to say.

  • @Quadunit404 does low-bypass turbofans mean noisier?

  • @xTomcatsForeverVF84x It means nosier, less fuel efficient and also means capable of taking amounts of abuse far in excess of modern engines... Those JT-8s could gobble birds all day long and not even hiccup, on modern engines that usually results in a shutdown.

  • loud? what did you expect dumbshit

  • I grew up hearing these every day going in and out of Philly International. Also heard (and saw) them when I attended Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach in 1981. Nothing like having a math class next to the end of an active runway.

  • Looked up the history of this bird. It was originally delivered to Delta Air Lines as N456DA...it is a Boeing 727-232 Advanced model. It was then bought by People Express and registered as N515PE. It became a Continental bird after the People Express buyout...re-registered N27783.

  • A nice takeoff video. This is one plane that I have never flown on yet alng with the 747. I miss seeing the 727's too!

  • Gosh I miss the 727's, When I was working for United and they got rid of them it was a very sad sad day

  • Gotta love the 727! Wow! I saw 727's here in the Philippines whn I was a kid in NAIA but the name "Continental" was named "Continental Micronesia" but it bears the same logo and lettering.

  • Pilot looked like he was in quite the hurry.

Gotta love 727s though. Will miss them when they are all gone.

  • I wonder if I flew on that plane in the old livery.

  • i was fly on these ap

  • I love the 727!!!! :-)

  • If Boeing kept the 727-line running to compete with the DC-9 (somehow hurdling over the 2-jets better than 3-jets dilemma) these might have been stretched and equipped with IAE V2500's! How godly would that be.. lol!

  • sorry I was wrong ... arent turbojets, they are low by-pass turbofans... greetings from costa rica

  • good turbojet engines, the turbofan is quieter and more efficient, but this sounds like beautiful angels in my ears ... I miss this plane! :(

  • These are turbofans, not turbojets.

  • How I long for the 727! Nice right turn after take-off!

  • Right there just govt' ran.

  • i always loved the flap system on the 727

  • Man. What a great sound.

  • less than 30 seconds for liftoff !

  • i love the sound of a jet engine!!

  • Turbine.

  • beautiful plane, great noise. thanks for sharing! :D

  • The real jet engine sound as opposed to today's giant vacuum cleaners (although I still like RR's).

  • nice flaps 25 max EPR takeoff; god, I miss flying her !!!

  • @XBoeingCapt Wasn't the EPR on the #2 engine different than #1 and #3? And how did you calculate the correct EPR for takeoff?

  • @XBoeingCapt r u sure its 25? looks 15 to me, and i flew her for 10yrs

  • @XBoeingCapt Skipper, the Boeing 727 is gonna go down in history as the best jet the Seattle folks ever made! I've flown in 'em many, many times and NEVER had a bad trip!

  • love the jt8d

  • @vargas37 hi there; yes the #2 engine was not bled for takeoff so it was what we used to call, "three cents higher" than nos. 1 &3 ...hope this helps.

  • This is what an aircraft should look and SOUND like. Boeing Rules! Airbus sucks!

  • @AmericanAirlinesRule why does airbus suck?

  • Airbus sucks because of their ridiculous joystick. A column between the pilots knees makes much more sense.

  • Why? airbus pilots doesn't need a yoke.

  • I hear you my friend

  • @dynamic717 A retired NWA DC-9 driver I know said in his day he wanted a solid control yoke in front of him with cables connected to something!

  • If it's not a Boeing I ain't going!

  • great message

  • @Skyflite heck yeah too many airbus jets have been going down. B767 all the way!

  • @Skyflite if its an Airbus, id rather take the bus!

  • @Skyflite Rofl Airbus has better safety records.

  • @Skyflite its I aint going, if it aint no Boeing

  • @Skyflite Hell yea

  • @Skyflite bit sad arent you

  • @Skyflite Air Bus is takin over. go home :D

  • They should invent some kind of hush kit for the "Wisper Jet". LOL.

  • Most Of The Surviving 727's Are In Central And South America.

  • it sounds like a fighter with full afterburners XD love this plane, sucks that it isn't produced anymore :(

  • AWESOME

  • i remember when i travel on a kiwi 727

  • i remember seeing a kiwi 727 @ IAG

  • Boeing 727's are my favorite kind of jet!!

  • there are no other jets. there are all wannabe planes. 727 is the best and all the rest are simply bullshit. ueah yeah..loud and crap fucking airports and their nearby residents.. i hope everyone who had a hand in killing it burns in hell.LONG LIVE FEDEX

  • Most of my families vacation flights out of YVR in the '70's were in 727's. I'll always have really fond memories of these old birds. They were hot rods too, no other airliner pushed you back into the seat like these did.

  • I love the 727. Great passenger plane that is great to modify into a business jet.

  • shame they arent as used as much anymore.

  • GREAT sound!

  • more like 1000-1100ft, type "tncm charts" in google image

  • they just dont make them like this anymore. its almost as if 737's and

a320's have taken over narrowbody fleets

  • now the A319's are taking over what used to be northwests DC-9 fleet :(

  • @neighborhoodballers If only Boeing didn't acquire Mcdonnell Douglas my friend :(

  • @neighborhoodballers - because 737s and a320's are cheap, safe, new, and reliable. and the 727 is OLD AS HELL!!!!!! :)

  • @neighborhoodballers yes, because the tri-jet design isn't efficient and the 757 replaced the 727. Also, this is during the peak of air travel now airlines are carrying slightly less passengers meaning they need lower capacity jets.

  • @neighborhoodballers They have, because they're more efficient than 727's.

  • That mountain is one hell of a 50 foot obstacle.

  • Cool airplane.

  • i love 727 sound,so much better than russian planes!

  • loved the 727's...last time I was in one was like 15 years ago...I miss these suckers...nice REAL jet engine sound...

    :(

  • best plane boeing ever made....need the 727-300!

  • @littlebitch231 Boeing was thinking of launching the 727-300, but the Oil Embargo of 1973 caused boeing to come out with more efficient designs. The 757 was initially designed to replace the 727, but it carved out a new niche of its own. The true 727 successors are The A320 and 737-800.

  • Amazing vertical speed, it is my favourite airplane, y always loved that aircraft, shame isnt in service anymore

  • moar loudar please!

  • I remember this 727. It is really loud engine ever I heard. like make people go drove crazy.

    I miss those 727. I rode on 727-100 in about mid 1998.

legned said that 727 is most loudest in world.

  • Now that is what an airplane should sound like, give me a screaming jet like this, an old DC-9, or a BAC 1-11 anyday.

  • i love the sound of a 727. very noisy but i love it. reminds me of the older days

  • what?

  • i think a 727 is louder than a dc-9 but dc-9s are qlose 727 has 3 dc-9 engines

  • Love it. 727 was my favorite AC of all time. They were designed for takeoff on shorter and medium runways with that wing design, yet they seem to love the ground. What a beautiful climb!

  • aerogal and syrian air fly passengers on them these days

  • I miss the 727's they were the first aircraft that I ever flew on. And yeah they were continental Airlines.
