Merci
Aloha, considering Joe died in 1967 and The Rapiers recorded "Telstar" in the '80s, the short answer is "no". But if you believe Joe is always listening wherever he is, well, the answer could be "yes".
var: No, the bassist is Brad Dallaston, who replaced Roger Cover in 1987, as noted in the "more info" description up top. Don't know the location, but the guess is the year range is 1987 to 1992, possibly 1993 at the latest.
Great sound from the boys, Colin's effect changes are superb, flawless. Is the bassist Roger Cover? When and where was this, whatever the answers it seemed like an excellent set.
Colin's not changing effects at all. He doesn't use any effect but an echo unit. He's switching from lead to rhythm. The middle section is being played by the rhythm player (hear the clever use of echo in his rhythm during the main theme).

Simply brilliant. No disrespect to the Tornados original, but in my opinion, the Rapiers version is the ultimate. This band should be BIG stars.

Strike me down but...this could be the best version. It's just awesome!! Did Joe Meek ever hear this? Did he say anything about it?
Aloha

When I was a kid, I bought 3 version of this song all within about a year: Tornados, Ventures, Apollo 100--and loved every one!
