i love manami's epa formula. im allergic to most fish and im asthmatic. since i started, i use my inhaler less during my crossfit workouts and rugby training.
Someone said DHA is much more important than EPA. Others, like you guys, said EPA is more important. For those who told me that DHA is important is that our brains is make up of about 60% of DHA fat. And when needed, our body can easily convert DHA into EPA, is not as easy other way around. What do you think.
I consider myself as a healthy person with no health problem, however, I do want to improve my brain. What do you think I should be taking? More EPA or DHA?
@lauls85 we hate pitting them against each other as you need both. If you look at tissue in the body most of it is DHA, however the research is finding the functional effect of EPA to be greater especially w/ cognitive function. Also the body more easily converts EPA to DHA than the other way around (despite conventional wisdom). Check out the studies referenced on Minami Nutrition's site (they are peer reviewed studies). Bottom line is you need both, but more EPA. Hope this helps.
I like how all your videos are based purely on logic and science. Very informative indeed.
Just a lil' tip though. I have noticed in some of the videos you keep hitting the table with your hands. Not a big deal but the noise is a bit annoying.
@f3l0ny33 The gentleman in the royal blue shirt is awsome, the best, intelectuall, he has the intelegense level of a cardiolist, neuro, Gastro, etc, etc, etc keep up the good work
@omarthebj the problem with Krill oils is that it has been over fished and that has effected the quality, it is very cheap to harvest because of the fishing methods used. Also there is a lot of hyperbole about Krill oil being in a phospholipid form as opposed to the triglyceride form from fish oil, this is all marketing as there is no evidence to validate this being a superior form. Hope this helps.
@BestPriceNutrition Thanks John for the informative video. If you could make another video that compare different brands and explain common production processes that affects quality. I was wondering, I'm currently taking New Chapte's Wholemega. Should I use Minami instead or stick with wholemega? and are they comparable in terms of quality? Thanks
@khld1 New Chapter Wholemega is good however I do prefer Minami as they do not use molecular distillation (they never reach the high temperatures with the Supercirtical CO2 extraction). Also the amount of EPA and DHA per cap is so much higher which is nice. Thanks for watching.
Great video! I have found your advice inspirational, it has lifted my training to another level. The query I have is this, are you advocating taking omega 3 fish in addition to the Udo's choice dha 3.6.9 blend or as an alternative? If I could easily buy from you guys when I live in the U.K I would! I am still considering getting Insu pro shipped over! Many thanks for your nutritional tips!
@jdc021 really depends on your diet, if you need the extra healthy fats than we recommend adding Udo's Oil (original version), if you eat a lot of olive oil, coconut oil, etc... you can just go with Minami fish oil.
My parents just bought 800 fish oil pills from CVS because it was cheap (don't have a job) lol Damn! I should have watched this video first )= What do you think I should do? Should I return them? I dont want to kill my liver lol
@spot603 well if you can return them, then you should. Sorry in most cases we would say the other stuff is fine and you can use it, however with omega 3s you really want to be selective.
@chrisstefanetti1 the general consensus is that 1g of EPA & DHA per day is sufficient to maintain optimum performance of the cardiovascular system in most people. Other condition specific amounts include: Heart and Cardiovascular Disease Prevention = 1g EPA + DHA/day w/ high blood triglycerides = 2-4g EPA & DHA/day. Depression 1g (no DHA) day, Bipolar Disorder 1- 2g (no DHA) day as supplementary treatment with standard therapy

Anything wrong with Optimum Nutrition's Fish Oil (in terms of concentration and purity, etc.)?
ThePhatIndian 2 months ago
@ThePhatIndian it's like the others in that it is molecularlly distilled so it's not on the level of Minami. Hope this helps.
