BOB is one hella fast song--they hung very well, considering. The costumes were awful, and unlike the stepping routine Kent did in Season 6, there were no mics on the stage to pick up the rhythms.
They looked really tired throughout this routine. I couldn't blame them though. And nigels comment at the end pretty much guaranteed they weren't going to win.

This was just too much for them, you can't teach stepping to someone who has never done it and expect them to do it and make it look good in a short amount of time, especially when the beat was this fast. They just couldn't keep up and it just made the whole thing look awkward because you could tell they were missing and skipping some of the steps.This routine ruined any chance they may have had at winning.
@GroovMovz I agree 100% I think they probably could have pulled it off if they weren't given it on a week where they had to learn three other routines!
Here's the thing I don't understand about this whole gumboot stepping: Why didn't we give these boys the boots to learn the dance in?
I am betting they would have done ten times better if they had learned the dance in the boots. Because I know those boots are heavy and trying to adjust timing and all of that must have been something that threw these guys for a loop.
Also why the finale? Why couldn't it have been regular stepping or a slower tempo? In rehearsal Tadd and Marko look fine.
And to think I thought Kent stepping next to Twitch Boss was bad!!! They were so out of synch and neither seemed really into it. Stepping is supposed to be like BOOM. ( I still think they are cuties though!)
I can't believe this actually got okay reviews. They were so off-synch! I cringed the whole time. Usually the "bad" pieces are just routines that could have had more power or style...but this? You couldn't fix this.
Oh come on Nigel... introducing a new style in the finale? Really?? This has to be the worst finale ever.. I mean they give Melanie 2 contemporary, one jazz and one disco and Marko gets disco,contemporary,broadway and this?? It couldn't be more obvious that they want Melanie to win. Thank you Nigel for ruining this season with your favoritism to some dancers (aka Melanie and Ryan) and with the complete lack of diversity. Gosh, I really hope next season will be much better.
@oanadriana New styles in finale is not new--the Russian dance was introduced with Joshua and Twitch in Season 4; luckily, they were able to pull it off.
@dqDST1913 It is still a bad idea.. If they gave the guys this new style they should have given Melanie something harder too. Imo Melanie should have been the one to do the cha cha and not Sasha. Anyway I must say that I started watching SYTYCD since the 3rd season and this is the worst season until now..
i personally want sasha to win but i have to say this is the worst top 4 group in sytycd history!!! oan: i woul've like to have seen this routine with twitch and joshua performing it!!! it woul've been 10X BETTER!!!!
I honestly think that Tadd DID do better than Marko, and that Marko was slacking a bit because he was exhausted. You can clearly see it throughout this piece. The choreography was terrible, and they did okay..Tadd better than Marko though.
LOL @ all the people who were saying a few weeks ago that if Tadd/Marko did a hip hop (this style is close to hip hop btw) that they would have killed it...cause they thought that Ricky wasn't up to par with Marko. Stick that into your pipe and smoke it cause this was the worst routine of the night!
@spursrapsfan stepping is nothing like hip hop...... well it is similar but the style is totally different so your comment isn't really all that correct
@2004aas I don't think that's the case....but I think if two guys dance contemporary or jazz that would look totally gay, but if two girls dance contemporary it doesn't look bad.... so maybe it has to do with it. Or they just randomly picked that dance style.
@venecochick09 Last season had some very memorable and well-received routines comprised of two guys. Outta Your Mind, Shoeless Joe, You Only Disappear, How It Ends, and Mad World, and 3 of those were contemporary (if I'm not mistaken). If two men dancing together looks 'totally gay' it's the fault of the viewer or the choreographers. However, there WERE other (and better) styles to choose from. Personal thought: I am not sure any dancers randomly picked ANY style this year- it seemed 'staged'.
@uklondoner27 Hmm Maybe you guys are right but, I still think that even if they had better routines, the girls were better this season. I like Marko....I do but I still think he is not that great (technically but I love his versatility and charisma though) as other male dancers last season or other seasons. Kent for example was really good.
@venecochick09 Well, none of the four is good enough for me. Almost everytime when they got ballroom, they didn't do good. My opinion, though. If I may say, Caitylnn is the one who should've won. At least, she grew up every week.
Don't like the style nor the choreography. And I'm not sure, but too me they looked exhausted, they weren't giving it 110%. But I can't really blame them since they had a lot of routines tonight.
Anyway, even if they don't win they are both fantastic dancers and I'm sure they have a great career ahead of them.

Didn't Kent do stepping with Twitch last year? (He was supposed to perform it with Billy, but Billy was temporarily injured.)
