@TheMysticCore Yes, you have to earn each of the styles from specific bosses, and then you can choose any of them you want to equip in the pause menu.
I remember playing Network transmission on the gamecube and it pissed me off how weak the buster was (normal small enemies take 6-10 hits to kill), how you had to rely too heavily on chips, and the unbalanced difficulty. Now seeing this game, which is everything that Transmission should have been, it makes me wonder why they didn't port this over to GBA and release it here in the US.
Does this game have Bug Style? It's my favorite style, I have it on MMBN3. I'm contemplating if I'll ever get rid of it. . . probably not. Almost every battle I have fanfare or a 100HP shield, and I ALWAYS have the buster-shield bug. (I made a custom bug that lets you have this even when you don't have bug style. It has no negatives so it's an uber easy way to get Bug Style.)
@cool2984 Yea, I fought 12 bosses + Forte, and that's the time record. ^^; I have to record the whole thing some other time and show how tough the EX Hard Mode is. xD
Select EX-Hard Mode in Extra Mode that you unlock after you collect 3 stars that shows up on the title screen. The Extra Mode is a Boss Rush Mode, and when you have defeated ALL the bosses without dying, Forte will show up after Dream Virus and Gospel.
@CreepyDogWorld Well, you obviously have to beat the game at least twice (minimum), taking a different path on each run, to make sure you get all the Style Changes for Rockman and get access to Gospel's Stage. The 3rd Star you unlock by finding everything, including the Battle Chips. The save file will show 100% and then you will get EX Hard Mode.
Man, I wish I could play this game. I played it for... a few seconds, only to rage over the fact that I didn't know how to get the emulator's controls to work, hah. That was a few years ago, so I should retry it now...
That was an excellent battle, by the way. I wonder how much damage those big green orbs do...
This game is great, mainly because like Network Transmission, it's a sidescroller that plays like the classics. The sad thing is, I got to the end and never finished playing it, so I certainly never got to Bass/Forte! This has inspired me to do so!
I think you should do it. ^^ You don't get any prize for it though, but the satisfaction that you managed to get SSS rank on the WS game. And he was fun to fight against in EXE Transmission too. I'll try and beat him on the English version too someday. :3
It's for the portable system called Wonderswan Crystal (or Color). The game came out in 2003. It works excellent on the emulator called Oswan 1.7.3. ^-^
I have that emulator myself. But, when it gets to the part where you actually play, it doesn't have any controls. I can select start at the start menu and get through the opening scene, but when you go into the first level, I can't control it. The emulator won't even let me configure controls.
Ah yea, I remember back then. I had the exact same problem with it. ^.^; You have an older version of Oswan (0.7.2 or something). If you update to the newer one that I mentioned, you will be able to have control of Rockman. ^-^ The emulator opens up just like any other emulator does (VisualBoyAdvance, and so on), and it doesn't show some weird window with a bunch of things to pick before you run it. o.o;
I noticed that at the end of the battle, where it displays your score for the level, it was in english. Is there some kind of translation patch I can download from somewhere?
Um no, there isn't any translation that I know of. o.o; This is unpatched version. Some parts of the game has a few English words, but it's still Japanese tho. ^^;
You have to fight every boss in the EX Hard difficulty in Extra Mode (the boss survival mode). If you lose against any of the other 12 bosses, you have to start over. You only have 4 Recovery 20 and 2 Recovery 60 chips, and you don't get energy back after every fight either.
You can't use any Styles in this difficulty of the survival mode. You only have recovery chips. You pick the Extra Mode at the bottom of the title screen. Just get 100% on your savefile and the EX Hard mode will be there too (4th choice). ^-^
What English version? As far as I know, the game was only released in Japan, unless there's a fan-translated version out there (maybe so)?
Thanks, I'll definitely work on it sometime soon - the main reason I haven't is because the game's been in my game cabinet for the past few years and I guess I just haven't thought about it in a long time! :)
Oh, I was talking about Rockman EXE Transmission. I have a switch for my Gamecube, so I can play both American and Japanese games. ^^ But it doesn't play pirate discs... I bought both versions of Transmission, my best time 137 chips is 6 hours, 24 minutes. o.o
Wow, that's great! I don't think I got through Transmission like that! It's funny - some games I can whip through like nothing (Rockman 9, for example), but others, not so much! Sometime, you ought to make a playthrough of the Japanese version of Transmission - I bet it'd be a good one!
In this game, can you style change?
