Rhinoceros beetles make great pets.

While they may not live the longest, they are extreamly safe for young children, having nearly no way to harm them. ((short of the child trying to swallow it ofcourse))

They are also very easy to care for, meaning you can teach your child responsability, without forcing anything to hard on them.

think you can easily google this info. But for additional info: The male mates more than once. There are a lot of these kind of pic --The male lives for around six months. The female will die shortly after lay 100 whities brown egss (3-4mm)

that my children played with right now are our favourite childhood's creatures...:D

Its remind me that I was studying ant migration behaviour when I took a animal behavour course in U.of T. as part of my Major in Psychology. That experiment was interesting but it almost costed my eyesight because of long period of time using microscope. I spent more time living in Toronto more than in H.K. I guess your parent are currently living in Toronto.
