  • * calibrate

  • youtube.com/watch?v=eIBtZR941Yw&feature=related

This will acually give you an idea what's going on...

  • This is really hard to watch..This guy is supposed to know what he's talking about ehh,,leaving the anti skeet at "0",,,wtf,,also never said anything about the tonearm leveling..VERY IMPORTANT,,.This guy is supposed to be a pro dj,,well,,,,,it just hurts.....to listen..You can BS some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all the time..

  • OH MY GOD STOP TALKING Just tell us already!!(I already know just bullshittin) LOL!

  • can u not explain it faster man took forever.

  • OMG.... this is too funny! I'm going to sound OLD here... but, this just goes to show you how XBOX and PS3 have ruined your younger generation. WOW! Sad.

  • @Punnzells pmsl a knew that before a bout decks lol

  • dj de verdade, perto de 2 mk2 se emociona vinil forever

  • he meant calibrate

  • This is just PAINFUL to watch . . .

  • a gand a dudes just leanin' on him.

  • You seee.... the increment of the stylus is better uniformed from accuallity of the disc. Thennn the zero sum of the actuator can tension grab the moving stablization! (why are they laughing) anywayzzz annie-skate will make your manipulatin' and skratchin' much better than other options. n-shit. school'd smoove. Where's the penny?

  • Is this video in english? how can you not know this stuff? its the simplest machine on earth since the stone adz!

  • anti skate is a tension adjustment idiot,...not a speed adjustment....go to school...and come back when your a real dj.

  • the only way you could not know this is if you started yesterday

  • All these years I wondered about the "Pitch" I knew about the zero, but the rest of it....man. Who knew?!

  • who the fuck didnt know that?!?!?!?!?!!?

  • My head now hurts. I think my IQ just dropped a couple of points.

  • ANTISKATE IS SET TOTHE WEIGHT OF THE NEEDLE. DDDAAAAAAAANNGGG

  • helps "collaborate" your turntable? ....lol... it's "calibrate" you dumbass...

  • SO ARE THOSE VINYLS OR ARE THEY APART OF THE TABLE???

  • @DJC0Caine timecode records from what it looks like.

  • Been using 1200s since 1988 thanks for teaching people how to use 1200s im 43 yrs old now been using mine since i was dam 21 im old school and mix for my pleasure only cd mixers are good for looping and i like seeing the new djs use them now but will stick to my 1200s

  • not many people know what the thing under their noses is!

  • How this guy explains things could be better, and in the case of anti-skate, more accurate.

Anti-skate adjustment centers the weight of the needle so it sits in the middle of the groove of the record, as to be in contact with both sides equally. A nice blend of "left" and "right" stereo signal, and as to create even wear on your irreplaceable vinyl. I'm not aware of any anti-skate that is actually set for scratching.

I'm no hater, I AM one to point out things that are simply incorrect.

  • haha, this is bull. i have a 1200 MKII in my living room. it's called a strobe ring. and holy fuck, it's called pitch control. no way. fuck me.

  • thanx for the video, was helpful.

  • i love 1200's :D

  • Didnt mention, or make it clear, that 1.5 on the weight is for that needle in particular and its different for different needles. Good video though.

  • I can't believe that people don't know this! I'm 16 and my dad taught me that when I was five.

  • If we are using serato, can we use any kind of vinyl or does it have to be a serato control vinyl?

  • @DjFrosty171 you can use another brand of control vinyl, but you will have HUGE latency issues, it's always best to use traktor with traktor vinyl, serato with serato vinyl and so on.

  • Everyone knows that already?

  • you could be a dmc national finalist but it does not mean you know turntable set up . ok have you pick up a book and read about turntable set up i dount think so most did not do your home work you will thank me and thank boycasey81

  • boycasey81 is right you have to read the book turntable set- up or a dvd by michael fremers the more you read on turntable set up the more you know the right way and what anti-skating does like i use a stylus force gauge so i know the right weight for my cartridge and so on. technics is forever and vinyl is forever thank you

  • it's "calibrate" not collaborate. lol

  • what's the name of the mixer ?

  • @fjocas That's a 'RANE TTM57SL' and I want one. I have a TTM56 and love it, but can anybody help me out here...I have several 'VESTAX' mixers and the faders can't compete with the RANE. The EQ however is superior on the VESTAX mixers, much cleaner sound. Does anyone else notice this or did I just hook the shit up wrong...

  • the mixer is a ttm 57sl

  • What he's saying about anti skate is all wrong, your anti skate should be set so the arm is centre balanced, The weight on the tone arm has to be different weights for different cartridges and the height of the tone arm with whatever cartridge your using should be perfectly level with the record your playing....The only thing he got right was about the red light on the table platter...

  • @BoyCasey81 if your strickly playing records, for dejaying it gets more personalized

  • @doubletime16 being djing with my technics mk2's with the last fourteen years, got my m5g's about three month's back so i think i've a fair idea at this stage...but i do agree everyone has their own settings for scratching and so on like the grandmasters have a vertical balance on them now aswell twist forward for normal djing and twist back for scratching....

  • the guys vocabulary SUCKS! but he know his shit..

  • i got me some 1210 M5G'S

  • I second anotherraybanfan. Also, he states how everything must be set up. That's bullshit; it's just how he sets it up for his style. There's a reason why the table is designed so that you can change the settings. Most people don't scratch that much anyway.

  • Wow...this video just uncovered all the secrets missing from my manual. He only missed out on the pop up lights and No rubber belts needed. The tonearm setup part is simply intriguing. Any mention on cartridge height vs VTA? The video feels so Collaborated lol...

  • which tables are betta, stantons or technics?

  • @Qflick Technics.

  • Listen Up People: This dude was a DMC national finalist under his old name DJ Samurai. So all that talk about him not knowing what he is doing is NONSENSE! Sam is smooth AND technical. PEACE

  • Comment removed

  • @thebetterhalf37 no, this man is embarrassing. he doesn't know what a counterweight is. he doesn't know the difference between a stylus and a cartridge, or what frequency response is. he doesn't know what a strobe ring is. he does not even know how to set up initial tone arm balance. he doesn't know what a pitch control is. i highly doubt he would even know how to mount a cartridge in a head shell, or properly adjust for sibilance himself. this dude needs to read a dictionary

  • @AdamsVinyl Got it. He's a DMC finalist and your one of the billions of haters on youtube. Considering turntable knowledge has no connection to SKILL, maybe you should turn your computer and PRACTICE.

  • @AdamsVinyl A turntable manual might be more helpful than a dictionary. ;) But I agree, dude embarrassed himself. He could be the greatest turntablist in the universe, but if he doesn't know how turntables actually function (which he obviously doesn't), then he shouldn't be teaching a class on it.

  • @chwow21 my point exactly:)

  • dumb ass, when u got to 0 the light was steady. the pitch control locks at 0, thats y the thing slides & dont lock on every number, u set it. my bad, i didnt know u was teachn a class

  • Collaborate = To discuss and coordinate with another party(ies).

Calibrate = To precisely and accurately adjust a device allowing proper operation.

Teaching is knowledge + experience + public speaking + linguistics + entertainment.

Leave the teaching to the pros.

  • ...

these sure are ancient secrets... good thing I watched this video

  • little known facts?

yes the facts YOU didn't know about the gear.

to all the ppl out there who wanna know about djing, go to djtutor.com or to the channel of ellaskin on youtube who is one of the founders of djtutor.com

    practise & enjoy ;)

    btw, champion dj? *shakinghead*

  • he forgot to tell us how to close the lid - or is that too technical?

  • I can't believe u posted this dude!!!! The audience had to coach him through the whole session!!!!! He didn't even know what to call the pitch slider, tone arm, etc.

I try to stay positive but he was absolute GARBAGE!!!!

  • @12spin true!

  • I'm actually surprised that a Technics 1200 owner WOULDNT know what the dots are for.

Ignorance of the other features doesnt surprise me though..

Preference of needles and carts is subjective to the DJ himself and what kind of sound/tricks he deals with. There is no ONE best needle.

  • "helps you collaborate your turntable"

  • @punkomattic lmaoo!

  • @punkomattic I LoL'd

  • Those dots looked sooo neat the first time I notice the little optical illusion .Other than that .I NEVER USED THOSED DAMNED DOTS. OCT 2009?! What aspiring DJ doesn't know this stuff.Hell i have cheap needles . If YOU are not stable, the needles are not gona help you.Pennies are used to make turntables that are not for scratching into a scratching turntables. Or for a quick fix when you're in a bind

  • This guy needs to be in the audience learning not teaching!! If you've wasted 10 mins of your life watching this garbage the best thing you can so with his advice is forget it!!!!!

  • What aload of shit. What he is going on about is common knowlege. The anti skate is there so the tone arm is pulled back by 1-3 grams of force so it sits in the groove better and gives a slight improvement to sound quality. (mainly the high end). It should be set at what ever the weight is set at. So if you have 2.5grams of force on you stylus you should set the anti skate to 2.5. It says all this in the instructions that come with the turntable

  • i think the dudes in the background wish they were holding the mic and giving the demo... let the man talk yo...

  • @Lophat7 Exactly what I was thinking, black people don't know how to listen when someone is lecturing.

  • @TheLegendMA Anyone who is racist should automatically be banned from any logical debate or conversation. It's hypocritical to make a negative judgement on a person by the color of their skin, when at the same time-you're being ignorant enough to put a whole group of different people in a category because it's easier for you because you're a retard.

  • @FLOW3RMANT1S Stereotypes are harmful if they involve prejudice - assumptions from preconceptions. I am making a direct observation of the event, with evidence to support my conclusion. Stereotyping is a skill, allowing one to reduce complexity, and are used everyday by you as well (american cars are less reliable than japanese cars). That's not to say there are not exceptions. You represent your race/sex/age everyday. If you dislike a stereotype, then change the behavior that lead to it.
