Like you said, it's monotonous. And I disagree when you say it has flair/style. If you see how cool and awesome the game Dante is, including all the scenarios and enemies you encounter, you really can't aesthetically appreciate this crap.
Storyline was pointless every time, mildly interesting if you're bored enough.

As you stated, it seems Dante effortlessly kills all enemies and that is the end of each episode (pretty much). There is no real struggle that he faces or inner conflict. Characters show up into his life which have little explanation or really have little to add to the store, the little girl who lives with hime for example. The overall plot happening not great
well it shows u were an otoku longer than a gamer because i been playing DMC since it first came out and well lets just say i was able to beat dmc 3 the original version on its hardest difficulty. now im not just being flamboyant if u dont happen to know the original dmc 3 had its difficultys mixed up from when it was transferred from japan. basically, easy=hard, normal =veryhard, hard = OMG WTF IS THIS SHIT!?!? that's why they came out with DMC dantes awakaning after they fixed it. + extras

i agree dante wins way too easy, we'll also don't get to see devil trigger till the last guy and all we see is his eye, dante is also too lazy and out of all the weapons he has so far, he only uses the rebellion and ebony and ivory, no ifrit, no chimera, no beowulf, no angni and rudra, no alastor. at least its sorta cannon since it has trish and lady's meeting which is one of the better episodes, along with death poker and the final 2 episodes,
I agree. The games are awesome though, some of the best I've played (except DMC2, it was WAY too short), so naturally when watching the anime (I actually got into the games through the anime, though I don't know which I did first, play or watch), I was glad & it was okay, but not great. I still have it a 8/10 on myanimelist, but maybe I should lower it?

It's so strange that there is isn't much plot for this considering Devil May Cry games usually have very involved plots. Sure they can all be condensced to: "200 years ago, something really bad happened. That's right...really bad! And now you've got to go...do something about it. As Dante. There'll be swords, you'll like it. Honest?" They are still pretty inventive and would make great anime material.
Still I doubt this is the last time Dante will grace a DVD player, whether it's anime or film.
I completely agree with you on this anime. I hated the fact there was no real plot. Other then that it was awesome. I went out and bought the DVD's though, since my boyfriend is a DMC freak and I gave them to him for Christmas ;D
Unfortunately that seems to be the norm for most anime. But, fff, your description totally made me think of the whole Sailor Moon anime set up. I'll be sure to tiptoe around this one.
Gunslinger Girl definatly will have a review written at one time or another. Ghost in the Shell I doubt will get a review. Speed Grapher is an anime I definatly have wanted to look into for a while. I ahve no idea if a review will happen.

I'm an otaku and a gamer, but yeah, Devil May Cry was definitely better as a video game. Hard as it is... the anime was just plain insulting.

I agree. The games are awesome though, some of the best I've played (except DMC2, it was WAY too short), so naturally when watching the anime (I actually got into the games through the anime, though I don't know which I did first, play or watch), I was glad & it was okay, but not great. I still have it a 8/10 on myanimelist, but maybe I should lower it?
