The human righst act stands in law and the government will be breaking it. Also the workfare scheeme states that people who are found to be not looking for work will be put on them, the Jsa agrreement states now if u do not look for work u get suspended

C) Workfare will also remove the bottom rung of the econic ladder. 'Low end' occupations will not be available due to employing workfare trainees instead. It will lead to a recruitment freeze in such occupations. It's already happening with internships.

Well said! cannot add much more apart from 3 things if I may...

A)Those doing such 'low end' jobs will have thier jobs threatened. Why pay someone £XXX per week for picking up litter when you can get a workfare trainee to do the same job for benefits only?

B) Crime WILL escalate. Expect an increase in shoplifting, burgalaries, etc. Of course such action is wrong. However, much of it will be bought on by sheer desperation.
