  • iv built a robot like this when i was 10 but it only had 4 legs and could only move forwards and vackwards but it worked in the same way

  • A W E S O M E

  • moon walk

  • I WANT THE LEG DESIGN!!!!

  • that is coool

  • my dog can walk al well...

  • Nice shape, nice edges, nice touch with the two red "knees".

  • I'm scared!

  • good job body keep it up and don't give a damn shit about the jalous people

  • What a machine! Great Work!

  • its kinda scary when it walks

  • cool. looks like those lego robot things? is it, cause i wanna try 2 make 1.

  • Jesus this thing is fast! Have you tried it outdoors/ does it work on uneven surfaces?

  • Dude,You are awesome

  • Cool it can do moonwalk also?

  • Thays creepishly cool

  • Cool!

  • The robots turning depends completely on friction, at-least I think so...

    Overall it's great!

  • Great, now give it some guns. (And a second one, to fight it!)

    Well, if you want to.

  • ZOMGXD the most epic motorized spider ive ever saw

  • wow........ stupid

  • thats awesome

  • Pretty Cool! If this is original, I am pretty sure you can submit it to LEGO and they can pay you for the design!......Although I beleive its not finished yet...it needs a cupholder.

  • lol thats so cool!

  • FAKE!

  • @DougieBarclay What are you on about. How could it be fake. It's real. What do you think it is CGI (retard).

  • @legomailman You're 19 and you play with lego (lol).

  • @DougieBarclay Actually I'm 14 if you tried reading the description you see that very clearly. Anyway good robot you got there carpenoctum. I don't see many fast lego walkers.

  • Nice spider!

  • it looks like its dancing

  • It's great to see atleast some people are using their brains to their potential, what a fantastic model you have yourself there :) ever thought on elaberating on it to a greater extent? for example rollers on the tips? or perhaps a laser guided bb gun haha ;p

  • Hey it's the Mondo Spider!

  • lol it looks like a retarded dancing spider

  • Will this thing destroy us all lol

  • @lastingpain22

and you better inform yourself before posting some stupid nonsence: this is not the Theo Jansen mechanism, it is called the Klaan mechanism, and i never pretended to have invented it. If you think it is inefficient, then build something better but i think you are not able to.

And i give credit to all the people (and this includes Mr. Theo Jansen) which keep inspiring me (and you are definitely not part of them)

Keep on posting your very "constructive" and "reflected" comments ...

  • @carpenoctem1973 Dont let that tard bug you, is yours linked to the klaan page? Mine is, I didnt even know about the Klaan until it was posted at their site. Keep building! Theo Jansen even sent me an email commenting on my spider.

  • @lastingpain22 its not even lego!!!

  • @lastingpain22 Well, its a Klaan linkage. Yes, its inefficient and always have slip on the feet, But this is the best mechanism in terms of resource usage.

  • I know some guys built this exact same one that was powered by a 40hp engine.

  • lol his steps are in sync with the music

and at 0:12 he does the moonwalk

  • proubaly insibired by theo jansen, also i noticed you dident use a hydolic arm in the bottom to make it turn, so how did you do so????

  • True brilliance; poetry in motion.

Thank u for posting it and sharing w/everyone.

Loving the background music -- would you tell us who/what?

  • That machine can do one hell of a moon walk.

  • Have you posted the build instructions anywhere?

  • sorry, i don't have any building instructions.

  • hello

    and as there are successful?

from which you have taken cue?

    not even to payment?

    many thanks

  • Comment removed

  • heh! it does the moonwalk when it turns!!! very nice model

  • Ahaha thats awesome man! XD

  • that's actually pretty slick

I'd love to see some instructions

  • thts the klann linkage isnt it?

  • Yes it is.

  • thats funny :D

  • awsome lol

  • C'est vraiment génial !

Une notice de montage serait la bien venue !

  • Simply awsome.

  • Got instructions??

  • This is very amazing, te way it can walk like this. I understand you use LEGO Technic sets? Is it very hard to create the moving parts like this?

  • Not so hard: it's Lego ;-)

But i had to do some trials before i succeeded to make a good working walking machine. But it's fun!

  • 1 thing improvement

add some rubber bands to the feet for grip

  • @IcyFreshHALO thats actually a good point

  • @IcyFreshHALO How it turns then? o.O

  • It turns the same way as how it dose in the vid :)

    Just has more grip 8D

  • thank u so much for your help!!! I'll let him know =) have a great weekend!

  • where can we buy the lego technic sets?? my son is 8 and he is a lego GENIUS! he loves watching your videos and is totally amazed by these! would toys r us have them?? thank u for replying this morning!! :)

  • I am sure that toys 'r us would have the Lego Technic sets. Also look at the Lego Homepage to see the different sets. For your son i would advise you to start with the smaller sets (like the go-kart or the quad bike) and if he really likes it, you can buy the Bulldozer set which is very big, very hard to build, quite expensive, but a fully operational remote-controlled toy.

    hope that helps.

  • where can we buy one?? pls respond!

  • you can't buy one of theese. You have to buy some Lego Technic sets and build it on your own: that's the spirit of Lego

    ;-)

  • hehe, a true lego builder should never have a complete set (other than the awesome sets like the yellow castle and CS), technic is hard to build, the reverse piston system (changes the circula motion of the moter into back and forward) is nicely used here.

  • 4 and 5 bar linkage mechanism makes it possible to walk however the height of obstacle covered is difficult to adjust with this mechanism

  • wohooo i can moonwalk alsoooo :-)

  • looks like the Mondo Spider

  • think for yourself, it is more fun than reading an instruction

  • This

  • Wow, I have just about all the pieces to make that!

    Please make instructions!!! :)

  • look lick a spider

  • yes

  • is this lego??

  • yes. this is lego-technik

  • add sum ruber pieces to da feet

  • Rubber wouldn't let it turn as well. Silicone would work better.

On another note, it looks like those wind powered sculptures some guy built, I can't remember his name right now, that he has walking on some beach. Pretty damn awesome.

  • Didn't take long, it's Theo Jansen who made them.

  • instructions please

  • Catwalk. ;)

  • that is great mine is almost dun

  • at the end, it is moving like doing the Moonwalk jajja

  • is cool

  • Looks like the moonwalk, I think. Or a crab, LOL

  • pls make a instruction

  • Sorry, i don`t have any instructions. But take a closer look at the video, do some research in the internet and try to build a walker by yourself. After some "try and error" you will manage to build a great walker. Sure.

  • the movement looks fantastic

  • it looks hard but its easy

  • instructions PLZ

  • please make a instruction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • make instructions please!!!

  • Hi which package did you use, or just part of some package?

  • very nice!

sturdy frame and good walking mechanism.

  • ATTACK OF A GIANT SPIDER!!

  • Nice, legs need like rubber feet or something.

  • I don't understand why KIDS can build sophisticated and fluent 8-LEGGED walking machines with PLASTIC AND BATTERIES but our top scientists can't make a decent BIPEDAL robot. That just baffles me!

  • Robots like QRIO ASIMO and the HRP-4C seem pretty "decent" to me. If you haven't heard of them, look them up. Not to mention these robots that "kids" are making can only walk with the simplest of movements over flat surfaces. Most know nothing of CoG shifting or altering gait to pass over rough terrain or steps. Bipedal gaits are extremely hard to do right.

  • I'm 13 and I have known for years what Center of Gravity (CoG) is. I have already made three biped robots (1 with CoG shifting and 2 with interlacing legs) and it is not that difficult. They aren't very good at walking on ruff terrain, but biped's are far from ideal for that, and the QRIO, ASIMO and HRP-4C robots that costs millions of dollars doesn't seem very "all terrain" either. The problem with all those top scientists is that they have too many resources, and doesn't see the much...

  • And they also spend millions to make the most elaborate and complicated, let alone expensive solution to a possibly simple dilemma.

  • @Kizzard I looked upt that HRP-4C . . . it was pretty disturbing.

  • @Ez3monie For sure! It's so far down in the uncanny valley it practically in china. Wait, it IS in Japan! That explains things.

  • ... (continued) simpler solutions to the problems.

  • And that's why I used the qualifier "most"! I know there are many young engineers like yourself that are building great little walking machines, I was just pointing out the statement that ContraCore made was a bit of an exaggeration. I agree that the current state of cutting edge walking robots is a bit disappointing, but you can't compare Lego robots to full scale humanoid robots. It's easy to build a robot that walks. Far less so to build one that walks *well*!

  • yeah except i dont think many 5 year olds are tackling projects such as these

  • yup, i agree with KingWeltrum

  • Very nice!

    5/5

  • I find this is the best lego walker

  • very different from most walkers

  • reminds me of tat robot from techogames, and the 6 legged 1 from battlebots, nice:D, you need a rug though...

  • lol it looks like a Spider Demon on the original Doom game. amazing and well thought out compared to other walking bots

  • will you post the building instructions?

  • Look at it turn, it does the moonwalk!

  • spider! run!!

  • hahaha with the music its so cool

  • how many motors did u use?

  • this makes me hungry for crab

  • MOONWALKING!

  • will you post the building instructions?

  • wow.. i watched it 3 times, and still don't understand how he can rotate lol...

  • Look closer. The legs on one side walk backwards and those on the other side forwards.

    Awesome bot btw! :)

  • nice spider :)

  • can i hire that bot to freak out my teacher? he'll whack if he thought I made what he NEVER acomplished!

  • cool i have seen one of these like the size of a car that a man can sit in =O

  • where i can find the plans of the mechanism that moves the legs? i wanna built this outta meccano ^^

  • wow

  • nice man nice that really cool

  • Great job! Those PF's sure rule!

  • i couldn't see from the video, but what, if any gear reduction did you use?

  • One of the most successful Lego walkers I've ever seen. It moves in a perfect way. I'd like to see it moving over obstacles etc. though.

  • nice one! Is it RC, or MPU controlled?

  • RC controlled

  • sweet!

  • hi, is this sold as one set or is it custom designed? how much does it cost to build ? do u have a website on the net that i can check?

  • is it pissible to get close up pictures of the legs?

  • cool little spider, did you use the motor from the dino set? check out my spider and let me know what you think.

  • i used the motors and the remote control of the lego technic bulldozer set: it's the same as in the dino set.

Your spider is very nice too, i think we used the same mechanism.

  • Well done!

  • nice machine :-) Respect!
