  • Thank you so much for the lessons by the way:) EXTREMELY HELPFUL.

  • Why is that we dont change the descending melodic minor scale?

  • Excellent! Thank You for making this easy-to-understand video on something that I've struggled with for far too long!

  • what about calculating major scales?

  • thank you so much!!

ive been watching all your vids and thanks to you i got a distinction in my exam! :D

    thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou sooo much!!

you're doing an awesome job! :D

  • @LauraJR23x Huge congratulations on the distinction! What great news - well done. Thanks for watching and a massive thanks for your kind feedback.

  • Excellent AAA+++ THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP.

  • these series are quite helpful, thank you very much!

  • Thank you so much. I find myself testing my thoughts and the future answers to your examples. I love it. It really makes me think.

  • Hello Sir!! You are doing an amazing job with this, and have helped me tremendously through getting a better grasp on the fundamentals of music theory, first off very much appreciated!! Second off, and last, the only request I and a few other folks I've chatted with, would really love it if there was any way you could increase the volume of your recordings? It is very hard to hear you on some of your videos, and some are different than others? Nevertheless, keep up the great work teach!Thanx

  • @JustmedudeSpliff Many thanks for your kind comments and very helpful feedback - much appreciated! The volume is an issue which bothers me as well. As time has progressed I have made the recordings in different ways - hopefully my later videos are a little more consistent (and audible!). If you haven't done so already, please do subscribe to my channel - I'll be uploading 4 new videos later today or tomorrow. Thanks again for taking the time to write. Good luck with your studies, Best wishes.

  • Why do you have to put a Double sharp in the G# scale? Surely a # on the note, combined with the one on the Key signature is enough? With a double sharp AND the sharp from the key signature the F then becomes a G#. Great video anyway, this was just a little thought I had.

  • I'm reading a book talking about 'melodic chromatic scales' and 'harmonic chromatic scales, the latter is the basis of all harmony.........I'm confused!

  • @janken919 Yep, chromatic scales can be confusing! So much so that the associated board are not even interested in testing you on melodic or harmonic forms of the chromatic scale. There's never really been an agreement on the formulation of the melodic form. The harmonic version "is the basis of all harmony" purely because it, roughly, follows the rules of forming other scales; with a twist though. Perhaps a future video...? Best wishes.

  • @musictheoryguy Thanks for the reply! I hope you don't mind all the questions....because I'm sure I'll have many more!

  • ... original score, and they look awkward to the reader. I try to remove them but it starts to affect the note on the same line (as you explained) in a few measures. Any trick to get rid of computer "calculated" double accidentals, ie something nice in the line of "retranscribe" mode? Thank you

  • Hi! Very neat teaching, it makes music life look easier! Well, if I want to put this into practice on Finale (2007), say I have a partition opened through a nice MIDI file (Lullaby of Birdland), which has to be played in an Fm. We notice that the partition is cleanely written, but with no 4 flats on the key signature. But when we add the 4 flats to the key signature, everything looks nice except the emergence of a few double flats in certain places that don't belong according to the ...

  • Thank you very much for your effort in making these videos. Just a few exam-oriented questions:

If we have to write a minor scale without using key signatures, do I need to add the natural accidental to the 7th note in an ascending harmonic minor scale, if it's suppose to be flatted in it's natural minor scale?

Is it possible to encounter a question, asking to write only a descending melodic minor, in such a case that I only need to answer the natural minor scale?

  • These are WONDERFUL lessons! Please keep posting them.

It would be wonderful to learn how to write Harmony to go along with a melody......
