Look at the 2nd definition for emasculate, when you search for emasculation at thefreedictionary website. Circumcision destroys most of the sensation in the penis. This is what makes it a FORM of emasculation. I'm aware that there are other more radical forms of emasculation. It is part of a spectrum.

Circumcision means literally to cut around, and involves amputating some or all of the prepuce (or foreskin in the male).

@ktss61 My problem with circumcision is that it is imposed upon non-consenting minors. I have no problems with adults making such decisions regarding their own bodies. Thus if a Muslim wishes to have themselves circumcised as an act of piety, when they become an adult, I have no problem with this. It is amputating healthy tissue from a child that I consider to be unethical. They deserve the utmost protection. What is the rush to do this anyway? Why can't it wait until they are an adult?

The Hadith

Narrated Umm Atiyyah al-Ansariyyah: A woman used to perform circumcision in Medina. The Prophet said to her: Do not cut severely as that is better for a woman and more desirable for a husband. (Sunan Abu-Dawud: book 41, number 5251, Hasan)
