  • Rangers fan here.

I like Martin O'Neil and think he's a great manager.I couldn't care less whether he classes himself as irish or Northern Irish as i seen the man collect his OBE from The Queen beaming with pride and to know the man's not a religious bigot pleases me.

Nothing but respect for the guy

  • Great man Martin O'Neill. He is a very good speaker, I would love to go to a sports mans evening with him as a guest speaker. However, I feel that he has not pushed on in the right direction since leaving Celtic. I think after doing a good job at Villa, he should have been pushing on to a club like Arsenal or Liverpool. Inspirational man and a winner who I think is misunderstood in a lot of situations.

  • Regardless of what passport he has, he considers himself Irish. It's not for anyone on this thread to tell another man their identity.

Martin is clearly a patriot, not a nationalist. Unlike others, his love of his country is not defined partly on hating another.

I wish him well at Sunderland

  • im from ulster ,and i have an irish passport, all people of ireland are considered irish by our goverment in dublin .all nine counties in uslter are included ,proud antrim man here .from the great city of belfast .

  • @fallsman1888

They are also considered British by the government in Dublin aswell as in London. N.Éire people can claim both Irish and British passports.

    get over it

  • @impongo2 how do you know he has a british passport? and how can he be british if he has spoken so passionately about his irishness and his irish identity... youre living in a bubble mate

  • @impongo2 northern ireland in ireland halfwit

  • lol

  • I remember Martin at St Columb's College,he was a stand out athlete even as a young teenager, brilliant Gaelic footballer.

  • class act; we miss you in Glasgow Martin!

  • Nationalism is born of cunts. Let the individual thrive and despise all else.

  • he is feckin British he holds a British passport and played international football for a region of the united kingdom

and his education was payed for by the British taxpayer

irish when it suits British when their hand is out

  • @impongo2 how can he be British with a name like O'Neill. Lol the most Irish name you can get.

  • @impongo2 Good Friday Agreement DONK....Go check it out about the nationality aspects. and here he is talking about what is it like to be Irish.I have a feeling your a bit of a jealous loser.

  • @impongo2 dont worry about it, they'll all be one someday soon-a united ireland that is, oh and by the way mon is definitely irish!

  • At least he is Irish, unlike all these tossers in Scotland who want to be Irish, despite having never set foot in the country. What is it with these idiots and their obsession with religion and bigotry?

  • Wait it out Martin and the ireland job will be yours after 2012. Probably going to west ham though

  • Come and manage Northern Ireland Martin

  • @WARISHELL09

Think it will be the Republic Mate.

  • Prick of the highest order.

  • Irish man went for the England job

  • @FreckletonBoy So did many more, what's your point or do you have one?

  • @mikeygormley What do you think my point is? Why would a man so proud of his Irishness want to put 3 lions on his chest and sing God Save the Queen. Plastic paddy that's why.

  • @FreckletonBoy What a dunce! pmsl

  • @astonfatty How so?

  • @FreckletonBoy All your 'plastic paddy and patriotic rubbish u have been pooping out your little mouth' pmsl.

And i u need me to explain the fundamental floors in being a patriot?! To a land your mother dropped you off in or u arrived in?! Then I am afraid u need more long term help other than from me on replies at youtube!

But I will answer u this little man, to insult a man like Martin O'Neill without knowing him is frankly laughable, and NIreland is still Ireland u complete twat! lmfao!

  • @astonfatty Well, that was nearly a coherent statement.

  • Respect to the Irish from me your English friend. I always get on with Irish people on holiday they love the crack and are really easy to get on with.

  • great thing about managers like MON is that you know they have other interests besides football

  • @jaguarclaw , thats who celtic need , he,d sort them out , brind back the glory days to celtic

  • god bless you martin top bloke ,

  • fantastic. a great man.

  • god bless saint martin

  • is that joe?

  • There's more chance of ferguson going to Villa than O'Neill going to man utd. He has more money at Villa, a fantastic relationship with the chairman and he will be given everything he needs to return the League title / European Cup to Villa Park.

man utd have zero chance of getting him.

Mourinho or Blanc are more realistic targets for the man utd posters here.

As for O'Neill's future, I can see him being the Republic's manager after Villa.

  • LOL your post is so wrong in so many ways its made me chuckle. Thanks for making my day :)

  • @thedoc24100 lol

  • Larsson said the greatest ever speech he heard was by Martin O'Neill at Anfield.

  • I love the ' Sacred Heart' reference. It's our masonic! Trust me. He's the next Man U manager. Fergie will graciously hand it over after the way Villa played that day. It was classy gladitorial.

  • This man will whack Europe in two years a. His American boss, Randy reckons he has charisma and the skill. Do you doubt them? It was a bet with Hansen. Will he do it/

  • He's at Villa now. And I love him for it. But in two years, he'll be the Man U manager. And I will so miss him. He really can unite. He has a worse temper than Reo Coaker, he has a greaer contrariness than Carew to whack him down. But more than that he nurtures. He forgives. I accept he'll go to United. Good luck! My I rish father will always moan! but he knows a man going somewhere.

  • @johnanthonyp , iwould not mind one bit if he was next man u manager , oneills way of the highway

  • well done martie

  • fair play martin

  • really intelligent man.

  • Yes, you are, moron.

  • no you're not but all of you that do think he is a prick are absolute wankers and joke supporters

He's our best manager since Ron Saunders you twat

  • Well hes the best Celtic manager since Jock Stein.

    Hes also a proud irishman.

    MON an icon of Celtic

    Good luck Martin at Villa

    Hope you come back

  • @galso Celtic have had 3 great managers who aren't only great Celtic managers or great British football managers but also great International managers: Stein, Maley, and Martin O'Neill. What all 3 have done in all their clubs is amazing (especially the work Stein did with Dunfermiline and the work Martin did with Leicester)

  • yes

  • MON reminds me of Noam Chomsky a little.

  • martin you are my favorite manager....

i am a villa supporter from wisconsin... declan by the name

they way you are always on the sideline in your soccer gear during matches tells a great deal about your character.
