I'm not sure whether it's good or bad from an Irish perspective, as I'm English and certainly not one of the "Caffrey's Irish" crowd who claim some kind of Irish ancestry. Either way, I loved it for what it was - great comedy written in a comedy idiom the Irish and British share.
