Do you have to leave your skull design in the pocket when washing your jeans?

Nope, Remove your template before you wash it.

As long as you gave it a good scrape with the sandpaper, the impression of the template should emerge after wash.

For best results, do the sanding on a raw or really dark pare of jeans. it won't work well on a faded denim.
