There is just nothing like a Chicago song to make you feel so young and carefree again just like we all felt in the 80's! There really is no way to explain the way the 80's felt with words. You just had to live it to really know but if you just let these songs into the deepest part of your soul, then you can almost feel the 80's within yourself. The way it felt to be alive during that time! I had the funnest and craziest times of my life then. The best memories of my life. I sure miss it all!:-(
This was the first slow song I ever danced to my Jr. High school days. and the girl later became became my girlfriend for a month.. Wish I could go back to those days!!!!
Early in his career, he got into an altercation with some thugs at a ballgame who broke his jaw. It was wired shut but he kept on singing anyway. A lot of his vocal habits that came from that experience are still with him to this day.
ya i agree, the 80's were the best,,roller skating was the place to be,these new bands are just bands, not like the motels,or missing persons,is was the best days of my life,
Such an outstanding video, the women are sexy and wild as well as showing a representation of frustration when dumped by their man. However, that being said...Chicago is such a fabulous horn's band, and actually, they wanted to sound like the Beatles of the mid/later sixies, Penny Lane, Sgt Peppers, Magical mystery tour....two of the best bands every to have a listening/fan club audience. Yet, I am NOT SAYING that Chicago is better than the boys, just different. They're a "hard habit to break"!
Man was I ever born in the wrong decade. I was born in '93 and yet I love the music from the '80's. Maybe that has something to do with my dad raising me on 80's music and loving it the whole time. :)
@emotionalgirl123 I was born in 1983 so i was little during the 80's but my sister was 5 years older than me and so i grew up with 80's music too and i still love it to this day as well! Its awesome!
@emotionalgirl123 I feel you. I was born in 77 and it took me years to find out the names of bands and songs, that I was raised on in good ol' 80's. It was time for melodic music brought to it's highest point.
I want to go back to my 70s and 80s. Peter Cetera is a true legend, like Barbara Streis and Celione Dione. Who is Lady Gaga or Britney Spears in comparison to these legend? Only one big rubbish. I was proud that I lived with these songs back in 70s and 80s. Was such a great time. So sorry for today generation. They do not know what music is all about.
One of their best songs and definitely the best of their 80s and 90s stuff. Kind of a strange video though - women pouting and throwing stuff does not make much sense. But what great lyrics, very well written,
Being without you is all a big mistake, instead of getting any easier, it's the hardest thing to take! I'm addicted to you, you're a hard habit to break...just can't go...such a hard habit to break..just can't go. I'm addicted to you, you're a hard habit to break, such a hard habit to break. I'm addicted to you, baby (Fade out)!
Now being without you takes a lot of getting used to. She learned to live with it, but I don't want to. Being without you is all a big mistake, instead of getting any easier, it's the hardest thing to take. I'm addicted to you, baby, you're a hard habit to break. I can't go, just cant go, ah, ah. I can't go, just can't go, ah, ah. Being without you takes a lot of getting used to. She learned to live with it - I don't want to!
Being without you is all a big mistake, instead of getting easier, it's the hardest thing to take! I'm addicted to you, baby, you're a hard habit to break. You found someone else, you had every reason. No, I can't blame you for running to him. Two people together, but living alone. I was spreading my love too thin. After all of these years, I'm still trying to shake, do much better, they say that it just takes time. But deep in the light, it's an endless fight. I can't get you out of my mind!
I got so far, you'd be here forever. Another illusion I chose to create. Don't know what you got until it's gone. And I found out little too late. I was acting as if you were lucky to have (to) do you a favor, like I knew you too were there. But then you were gone, & it all was gone. Had no idea how much I cared. Being without you takes a lot of getting used to. She learned to live with it, but I don't want to.
One of many fine songs from Chicago in the 1980s! "Chicago 17" was Peter Cetera's last hurrah with the group before going solo (he had previously released a solo LP in 1981 while still a member of Chicago). The LP was again produced by David Foster (as he had done with "Chicago 16"). "Hard Habit To Break" peaked on the Billboard pop singles chart in October 1984!
a 7 years with you is one of the wonderful years of my life,, farewell.. i know that this is for the best. thank for giving me a wonderful gift. ill never ever forget you though we part way not in good terms
Theme song of my very first heartbreak back when I was young. It brings back memories - not painful memories but meaningful ones that have defined me as a person. My youth would have been so bland without the 80s songs.
first and foremost to the forty dislike...wtf?? seriously?? back to an amazing song with both lead vocals sounding incredible together....wonderful song guys...hope theres a reunion tour cause chicago has more great songs as good as this one
Saw them at the auditorium theater in Chicago, 1970 When the horn section came out from behind amps on South California Purples thought I was going to cry. Would give anything to go back again and feel the energy, the life, the feeling of change in the air.
Chicago ?? R U kidding ?? Unreal !! Tight, harmonic, sensitive, energetic !

This band most def belongs in the Rock&Hall Fame I feel more than any other band except The Beatles a nd The Beach Boys. There are great bands out there from the 70's to the 90's but how many have over 42 records produced, actually I believe the tcount was over 72. They have stayed strong even when their great Terry Kathm died-they pulled it together-fired A BAD LEAD SINGER YRS AGO, AND A DRUMMER AND HAVE BEEN GOING STRONG 40 YRS. HOW MANY BANDS CAN DO THat?
ugh..yeah, never really heard this song till my divorce...Also, notice how they had so many smokers in the vid, now a days I'd probably have to be Oxi or Heroine to make the " addiction" compairison
I spoke to Bill Champlin during a recording session the other day and he told me that when they're working with this song in the studio, David Foster always used to push the stop button after "i'm adic..." and laugh (I'm a dick) xD
Sad, sad feelings. Sent these lyrics to my then wife (who walked out on me nine years ago) after 13 years of marriage. Even now I choke up when hearing it here, on the radio, in the car, when I play their CDs. I loved her passionately then and still love and miss her after all these years. But, she was younger than I. After the divorce she played the internet dating game. Ended up trading Michael for Mike.
@MichaelCQuinn Sorry to read that. Nine years is a long time ... and you still remember. Cheer up I am sure there is someone else out there for you :)
One of my fav videos by Chicago and they will be in Kettering, Oh by Dayton, Oh Aug 28 and I am going-yeah! I'm excited. I cannot wait to see them. MKROSIE1

Musicians today don't care for great lyrics, they're to busy being stupid.

The music is just tremendous. Listen to all of the instruments. Why can't they make music like this anymore?

Sad, sad feelings. Sent these lyrics to my then wife (who walked out on me nine years ago) after 13 years of marriage. Even now I choke up when hearing it here, on the radio, in the car, when I play their CDs. I loved her passionately then and still love and miss her after all these years. But, she was younger than I. After the divorce she played the internet dating game. Ended up trading Michael for Mike.

@MichaelCQuinn Sorry to read that. Nine years is a long time ... and you still remember. Cheer up I am sure there is someone else out there for you :)

I know I'm going to get a lot of thumbs down for this, but by this time, Chicago was just Peter Cetera's backup band.

@darrinbaker00 Maybe true; however, Bill Champlin was a better singer. Of course that's my opinion. He should've sang more.
