I myself am pretty satisfied with my ATI 5570.. You don't exactly need a overpowered GTX 470 to run games in the moment... Though wonder how long it will last that my GPU will be able to run games with no lags...

Fallout3 and Prototype with maxed graphics and with 1200x1000 res (I do have a pretty old monitor.... ) and have no lags at all.. ^^

I remember I first got the 6600 GT to play battlefield 2, was a good mid range card for the time, but now i'm rocking a GTX 470 which is like 10x the power LOL!

fryer? i get max 80C at load, its not a fryer, even a gtx 295 or gtx 285 gets 90C...

and if i get 100? whats the problem? gtx 480 wont work slow in high temperatures

that's because of stock fan make it suck in heat conduction(especially high end card like 285/295). most of stock cooler only suit to mid range card like 9800gtx/gtx 260. so it is basically nvidia's faulty heatsink design that make them hot as they use the same heatsink that 9800gtx had on the gtx 285/295.......

lmao! my gtx 260 is not the case :) the idle temperature is always keep under 45c and 69c in full load. in the other hand 6600gt is 50c idle and 76c in full load. who's cooler? :)

i need some quick help, my little brother is buying a new pc, or was supposed to but he got fierd from his job cuz of his work station got not enough money, well anyways, he wanna play games like world of warcraft css and maybee cod4. weell today i found a used pc that he can afford that have a 6600gt 1 gb ram and 2.6 single core... will this be able to run some games? personally i got 4 gb ram and a 3.0 quad core whit a 280 gtx.. =)

Hello everybody. At the moment I'm using this 6600GT graphic card on my pcwith Samsung 17" crt. I'm going to get a new Dell Ultrasharp 2408wfp 24" very soon. Do I need to upgrade my 6600 to higher performance G.card to get the picture quality at least the quality of my present crt or stay with what i got now and waits for 3-4 month before I can get new G.card if nessesary. Thanks for any feedback!

well ill tell you right now, your Geforce 6600 is going to have trouble rendering games at the native resolution of a 24" monitor. I think its 1920X1200. I have a 22" HD WideScreen and im running everything at 1680X1050. Im tellin you right now, a Geforce 6600 would not run on my set up the way i would want it to perform.

For a 24" LCD and its a Dell which means its HD, you should get nothing less than a Nvidia 9800GT or an ATI 3870 1GB GDDR4. The problem with recommending graphics cards to people is you don't know what kind of hardware they are running. In order to run those graphics cards you have to have a power supply that can provide juice to them. A 9800GT compared to a 6600GT is like comparing a new Corvette Z06 to a Honda Civic Si. The 9800GT has a unified shader architecture,112 Stream Processors etc.

w/e you do dont get an ati card unless its the 4850 4870 or 4870x2, and thing less (4650 3870 etc) suck, id go with a 9800gtx though for price to power, $180 and you can run crysis at high, if possible get a gtx 260 core 216 or the original (just remember the more ram the card itself has the better itll run at high resolutions)

Yeah i had a mistake there now i changed the 7600 and upraded my whole system aswell now i have the new nvidia's diamond card the new 8800gts 512 by asus powered by the new g92 oh yeahh mannn what a card but i have my 7600gt sleeping on my 8800's box right now i'm planing on putting it on my old system but first i need to upgrade it to a pcix19 motherboard so for now it's resting after the endless times of gaming i had on it :)

I got my computer stock and it came with this card and I used to play F.E.A.R all the time with the setting all cranked up to MAX! except for volumetric lights.

anyway lets get to the point it used to run perfect but now when i run it F.E.A.R lags like hell on medium settings and also kinda lags in MIN settings!

what is the problem??
