The best way to learn Spanish is to spend time in a Spanish-speaking country, and living with people who speak Spanish. I did so when I wanted to learn English, I moved to New York City and lived and worked with New Yorkers. It definitely helped me a lot ;)

I am huge fan of Pimsleur. I studied 4 languages (Spanish, German, Greek, French) and also speak Portuguese and English. I have tutored people in languages and have used Rosetta Stone and Pimsleur w/ students. I do not recommend RS as I think you spend too much time learning stuff you don't need to learn. Who cares is you can say "The boy is riding the horse"?

With Pimsleur you learn stuff you can use everyday and from day 1. My family is learning German via Pimsleur and it is great!

@MrPOVLOVICH Well I've never used this course, but I DO know that listening to the language is the best way to learn. My dad taught me this, he speaks 13 languages, and the way he learns is he watches the news, TV shows, listens to books, and even listens to commercials and interviews. Like babies, our mind begins to think in the context of the language and even something completely exotic like Chinese is more comprehensible. 4 languages later and this has worked for me.

it works, used this method to learn Italian before i traveled to Italy for vacation, and i could actually understand the natives, though since i only did about half the lessons i couldnt speak it well at all, but i mean the people still could somewhat understand the main point of what i was saying. It really is great, and sticks in your brain well

I bought a launguage program from Pimsleur off Amazon, and it's very easy. I tried it before Rossetta Stone, because it was a fraction of the price. I reccomend it to anyone over eight, because trust me, and eight-year-old could easily use it. :)

Yeah, as we can see from the comments, the drawings take away from the video. But, it actually really works- I'm learning Korean learning Pimsleur, and unlike Rosetta Stone, it's available on iTunes. I like Rosetta, it's just not as fast.

I love my Pimsleur Basic Japanese disc set! :D Makes me so happy... Out of five stars, I'd give it 100.

I've tried Rosetta Stone and several other programs, books, CDs, etc. Pimsleur has worked the greatest by far as it's the only one to prove successful longterm.
