Oh.my.gosh. This is beautiful. I got it at best buy for my father. He will love it too. It reminds me of Cardinology and Nickel Creek... Amazing. I especially love the womans voice harmonizing in the background. All in all, a magnificant touching song.
I was there the day Bryan, Kathy, Stella and little Ruby were taken from this world... I saw the flames and the smoke... we called the fire department... they were our friends... they lived just across the street from our home... a great darkness filled my heart that day... and ever after the world I thought knew was gone forever... but this song brings back the day before... Saturday morning when all things were still possible... there is love in this song, the Harvey's would have loved that...
@illuminareDesign u know them? this song is one of the best "real" song i ever heard and i know that its a sad song for a reason. I feel sorry for the family and i knew that it something horrible happened but didnt know that it was a fire that took the family.
@psychosnot I am sorry to say that it was much worse than just the fire. They were murdered in their home on new years day... they were such a beautiful family and we loved them very much... now they are free...
never met them but they seemed like such a *wonderful* family - i have no doubts they are all doing something fun right now with no memory of what happened here on earth.
Stella had spent that night here at my house. She and my daughter were the closest of friends. they played all night that night. in the morning, I remember seeing her on my couch playing an electronic game of Simon. I remember thinking how amazing Stella was and how grateful I was for my daughter to have such good friends. She was picked up by another friend's mother to be driven home. I look at my other daughter who is 8 now and say...this is how old Stella was that day.
Does anyone know any songs like this, sad and haunting and beautiful, that they can recomend to me? I love songs like this just can't seem to find them...
Even though I am mostly into wilder music, the Drive-By Truckers made me realize that there are plenty of good sounds that don't have to blow your ears out.
I love this song in the way you love those sad, emotionally perturbing songs. Great band, one of the best albums ever made.
sad, sad day. I just feel bad that this stuff even happens in this country.......you need to arm yourself and have a big big dog in your house at all times.
its about the 2006 murder spree, which included the killing of a family of four--the harvey family. the dad was a musician so i guess the DBTs knew him and wrote this about the murders.
It still makes me sad to recall the murders of Kathy, her husband and their two children. I knew the Grabinskys when they were in Va Beach many years ago. What happened makes no sense. This song is a nice tribute.
I wish I didn't love this song so much ..... I never want to hear it again, it's painful
stunning

That attitude is what leads to the violent nature of this country. We're a culture of fear.

Wow. I've heard this song dozens of times and never heard the story behind it. That just moved me to tears. How powerful.
And yes, I understand the irony of me posting this comment. I hope these people are in peace, wherever that may be.
