I saw the flames and the smoke... we called the fire department... they were our friends... they lived just across the street from our home... a great darkness filled my heart that day... and ever after the world I thought knew was gone forever... but this song brings back the day before... Saturday morning when all things were still possible... there is love in this song, the Harvey's would have loved that...

Stella had spent that night here at my house. She and my daughter were the closest of friends. they played all night that night. in the morning, I remember seeing her on my couch playing an electronic game of Simon. I remember thinking how amazing Stella was and how grateful I was for my daughter to have such good friends. She was picked up by another friend's mother to be driven home. I look at my other daughter who is 8 now and say...this is how old Stella was that day.

its about the 2006 murder spree, which included the killing of a family of four--the harvey family. the dad was a musician so i guess the DBTs knew him and wrote this about the murders.

It still makes me sad to recall the murders of Kathy, her husband and their two children. I knew the Grabinskys when they were in Va Beach many years ago. What happened makes no sense. This song is a nice tribute.
