  • The ending is so sweet haha - mind blown.

  • To me, this doesn't sound like djent. It sounds like prog metal.

  • I don't like djent at all.. but I'd prolly call it a subgenre of prog metal.

  • @EndOfWill Prog Metal is already a Sub-genre dumbass.

  • @X99lionheart Prog Metal is a subgenre, or branch of metal. Djent would be a branch of prog metal.

I realize you must be slow, so I will put it in a way you can understand.

    Metal=Candy.

    Prog Metal=Skittles.

    Djent=Red Skittles.

Let me break that down. Candy (Metal) is the blanket term that applies to all candies. Skittles (prog metal) are just ONE type of candy. But, not all skittles are the same. There are all different colors. Djent is just the worst skittle.

  • It is true jack ass

  • WHOA SHIT, YOU GUYS CAN QUOTE WIKIPEDIA?! well if it's on wikipedia, it must be true.

  • @oaklandrmoss18...."words fall from your mouth, like shit from ass"

  • "djent" is a sub-genre of progressive metal. The word is "onomatopoeic," which is a word that imitates or suggest the source of the sound that it describes. Like "roar" or "meow". In this case, somebody tried to mimic what the low tuned chord sounded like from their p.o.v. - It's dumb, but that's how this shit was started. I personally believe "Nothing" by Meshuggah is the first "djent" record.

  • Meshuggah created the term Djent = they described their style of music with the word Djent = not the way their guitar sounded = Djent technically is a genre = shut the fuck up all you douche bags who think you know it all

  • The cover remind me of something from Samuari Jack

  • Concert lineup:

    Periphery

    Textures

    Gojira

    Meshuggah

  • Gaycore

  • This needs more views

  • yah the clean vocals do not go with the music seriously lol he needs to be screaming he has it all backwards LMAO

  • this song is so beautiful and the new singer is sooo good! ;)

  • Whether Djent is a genre, movement, scene or whatever, we can't find it out yet. Let's look back after 30 years and decide then. Who knows what progressive metal will become. It's impossible to define brand new subgenres... so how about we just give it a break and let it develope freely.

  • Is this song 156 bpm?

  • the clean vocals disappoint me.

  • @Sbephan completely agree! I usually dont like clean vocals anyway but i got used to it in their older albums and it fit the band but now thats its mostly clean it just doesnt have the same feel. :/

  • @Sbephan Are you serious, pure eargasm material!

  • I dunno bout genre but seems prog like.but i mean u can compare it to alot of stuff i guess..but it's pretty cool either way

  • What the hell? Another new vocalist... I thought their first vocalist, Pieter Verpaalen, was fitting and unique! Their vocalist choices seem to progressively get more generic over time... Talented never the less, just doesn't seem to fit IMO.

  • "djent" sounds like some new age ritual more then a musical sub genre haha.... Personally I prefer Technical Progressive Metal. But with any alteration to a musical genre their will always be somebody calling it something else

  • This album has some of the best guitar tones I've heard in a while. So warm and delicious. I must know their secrets!

  • Ahh i knew it was a gucking new vocalist whatever its still good and better then that core bullshit

  • I think Daniel is the absolute perfect replacement for Eric. They both have their pro's and con's as vocalists, as does every musician, but the most important thing to remember, is that Textures' material with Daniel's is an ostensibly different mood than the 'Silhouettes'-era Textures.

I think he's an absolutely perfect fit. Props to you, Daniel and props to the entire collective that is Textures!

Dualism has been on a constant rotation for me! :D

Especially Sketches From A Motionless Statue!

  • I'd love to see Textures,Meshuggah,Sybreed,Scar Symmetry tour together! my fav bands!!Great song tho!

  • the singer really sounds like the singer from Hacride! Not a bad thing, this is a phenomenal song =D

  • why this shitty girl voices?nice music btw.

  • sunlight sails the soothing silence lml

  • the new vocals cleans are not nearly as good.

  • This band is actually MUCH better live than on CD... It's pretty ironic. Just heard of them for the first time last night on tour with Periphery and the human abstract.

  • The rhythms are extremely though, but other than that, they do not use very difficult techniques. Listen to Animals as leaders if you want to hear something with extremely difficult playing and rhythms. Plus an extra string hahah ;)

  • @BlisteringDDj: Yes, technically speking Djent is a guitar sound. However, a new genre has certainly evolved and what better to name it after the guitar sound? In other words, Djent has become a genre now.

  • fucking love Textures

  • Anyway Textures, Periphery, Tesseract and all those bands are still quite far from what Meshuggah have always made, I understand that cloning them is not their goal but I always feel that something from Meshuggah is missing : the way rhythms, riffs and songs are thought and built is completely different. No offense, I appreciate these band and have a lot of respect for them but Meshuggah are a few steps further concerning "musical research".

  • @Skcrog86 Fredrick Thordendal is and his instrumental album proves that, but everything else about Meshuggah is good their other elements don't set them apart. the leads in the album Destroy Erase Improve are why i love that band

  • textures is not djent , who told ya that, pity I'm not sure, wait it may be djent, ah fuck that, I think its djent, I could be positive if it would turned out if djent was a genre or not fuck that shit i got headache

  • Djent djunt djant djönt.... Mambo jambo! Textures plays awesome music.

  • @Penankor Yep. They play awesome mambo jambo :D

  • Their old vocalist is unreplaceable. The shoes are to big to fill.

  • although the new voice is good,i miss the old one!!!!

  • If I was able to see Gojira and Textures tour together......<<<<(The thought killed him before he finished the sentence)

  • @VileVengeance I'm so stealing that!

  • @easternhero255 hahahah \M/

  • Reminds me of Fates Warning No Exit. Djent? who made that up?

  • Djent isn't a freaking genre, it's a guitar sound. Textures does not have a "djent" guitar sound. To those who think djent is a genre itself: Everything that is in "djent" is also in Progressive Metal.

I don't hate the term djent, but it's not a genre. You could call it a movement, I suppose.

  • @BlisteringDDj at laaast ! someone with good brains :P totally support you dude :D

  • @BlisteringDDj kinda like grunge was to alternative rock

  • @BlisteringDDj its a style commonly associated with a mid-boosted guitar tone and a chunky sound, clean and screamed vocals, and polyrhythmic beats. its a genre bro

  • @BlisteringDDj Agreed. However, textures' debut album had a lotta 'djent' sounds to it. Good thing theu've evolved completely to create a unique sound themselves! :)

  • @BlisteringDDj Meshuggah described the sound a guitar makes as djent, Periphery dubbed the genre djent. It is a sub genre, influenced primarily by Meshuggah.

  • @daltonwatros1 periphery dont like to call them selves djent and dont like that djent is a genre now

but djent is a genre, just because of all the bands copying the mushuggah/perry ferry style

  • @BlisteringDDj Finally!! Someone else gets it!!!! I have no problem with any of the bands lumped into the djent genre. It's just that none of them have the Djent sound. Their tones are always waaay too rounded out. It's a crisp, percussive sound that makes my inards rumble with metallic joy.

  • @BlisteringDDj

genres are created on the go. Blues used to be just a feeling, 'having the blues', but over time people gave certain music the same name. Same situation as djent.

  • @BlisteringDDj It becomes a genre. And no Textures are no Djent.

  • @BlisteringDDj i've always called djent a genre. before djent, i loved prog metal as well. so there must be a continuity between the two. it's like a branch of a tree. well, you're right :D

  • @BlisteringDDj

Djent is a djenre...it sounds like you just fail to recognize it, which doesn't matter because arguing about genres is pointless. You can call a band any genre you want, but the fact of the matter is this:

It doesn't matter what genre of music a band falls under, as long as you like it...that's all that matters. If it sounds good to you, then listen to it and who gives a fuck what someone else says...especially arguing over genres.

  • @mrcusmc

No man, Djent isn't a genre. It's a guitar sound. Like you palm mute your guitar and the guitar sounds like djent djent djent. With a specific distortion you cand find that sound. That's why it's called djent.

  • @KOTDport

I know that djent originated as a sound, it was pioneered by Meshuggah. Djent also describes a type of music (otherwise know as a genre) as well as a movement. That's all I'm going to say, since I already told you that arguing about shit like this is pointless. Call it whatever the fuck you want to call it, in the end it's awesome music.

  • @BlisteringDDj It IS a genre man, it's a sub genre of progressive metal mixed with tech influences. This band really isn't djent, but plenty are that don't do those extended power chords you're talking about. You're saying that everything in djent is progressive metal, but everything in progressive metal is metal. So you're basically contradicting yourself.

  • @MyxHarnett In his defense, I believe is a guitar sound. You can't say that drums are djent, but you can most certainly say they are progressive. Saying progressive metal is progressive compared to standard metal means that all aspect of the music are progressive. Saying a band is djent applies to the guitar sound, not all aspects of the music. Just my interpretation though.

  • @BlisteringDDj You are correct on both accounts. However, as to whether or not Djent is, or is becoming a genre, is up to the interpreter. Even Misha himself has said that he doesn't know whether it is or not.

IF djent were to become a genre, it could. Whereas, yes, it is prog metal, I would go so far as to say that it takes more influence from the hardcore scene than generic prog metal. Prog metal is boring. It's about time something livened it up, sub-genre or not.

  • @BlisteringDDj It's a genre now that everyone thinks it is. "Nu Metal" was never a genre but people use it and know exactly what it refers to. This is how genres are made.

That being said, Meshuggah and Nevermore had these sounds like 15 years ago and nobody ever thought they needed to invent a genre for that.... so I don't see why Textures or Periphery are so special they need their own genre but whatever

  • @BlisteringDDj I don't consider this Prog Metal... Prog Metal are bands like Dream Thetaer or Opeth, who are complex in every aspect about music...

Meshuggah, Gojira, Textures, etc are just complex about rhythm and have uncommon ambients...

  • @vaxkors95 Proggresive metal is about unusual time signatures and having ongoing

    '' PROGRESSING '' songwriting.

if you think that you need to create endless wankery like Dream theater to be progressive then you really need to rediscover the genre.

  • @Guyverhoeven That's your opinion because the real definition of prog metal is a Heavy version of Prog Rock... I like Textures but they are not a complete band because they just use complex time signatures instead of using complex Melodies, Harmonies and the Rythm too... I think bands like Meshuggah, Gojira, and Textures are good but they are way overrated in this genre... and I like Dream Theater, Opeth and Amorphis are better that this, more complete...

  • @vaxkors95 thast wher eim fully gonna dissagree with you mate, I like Dream Theater alot but they seem verry incomplete to me for a big part. They use their ''complex for the sake of being complex'' writting way to much. Notice how many of their best acclaimed songs hold more logical structures. As ive said i like Dream theater but after a while you just turn their music off in the middle of their 7 minute solo because its boring and lost its ''interesting'' part after a few listens

  • @vaxkors95 And like i said. progressive litteraly means ''going forward'' wich generaly means holding little structure. thats what prog rock and metal is. fates Warning (the first prog metal band, who sound like heavy metal) has this. Dream theater has this but introduced technical and jazz influences, and textures also has this. Thats what proggresive metal is. if you're gonna judge it on experimentality and technical playing you might aswel call it technical, experimental metal...

  • @BlisteringDDj Wrong. Djent is both a guitar sound, instead of "Chug" It's "Djent" but I would also call djent a genre. I see where you're coming from but I disagree, I see djent in both forms, some bands use the djent sound, but are not the genre. Others are a djent band. Such as Meshuggah, I wouldn't call them Progressive metal, or heavy metal. It's too different.

  • @BlisteringDDj a scene, not a movement.

  • @BlisteringDDj Well djent is a very djeneric term describing most progressive metal bands. Doesn't exactly have to use djent to be called djent as the term has become more than just describing a sound these days.

  • @BlisteringDDj Meshuggah invented the fucking term Djent. They described it as the style of music they played, not the sound of their guitar. So unless you mean to tell me the people who invented the term dont know what they are talking about, shut the fuck up.

  • loving the titles and regards to our evolution :)

  • Love the clean vocals

  • Cool start!=)

  • I just found out this band and I fucking love it!

  • textures are no fucking djent band. they're just a very good progressive metal band. djent? oh, please!! meshuggah is enough.

  • @TheNora1980 hey Nora=)Progressive metal djent band i think.....like tesseract are a little more djent progressive metal you digggg? only ups for Textures though;)

  • @TheNora1980 Meshuggah are not djent, all the djent bands just list them as an influence. They just barrowed a guitar sound and made it pop-y

  • Eric Kalsbeek got better voice.

  • @TheNora1980 i approve

  • @tjbay1376 ...

  • Uhm i think refearing to djent fans as elitist is quite stupid since a load of bands are evolving/playing to this genre despite they have nothing special. And along with the bands, their fans are coming out and for a great part of those i see, it looks like a new trend for coolkids which judge only a little bit of the scenario and go for sentences like omg thats so br00tal so heavy or whatever. :3 well i think the originality isn't just a point. but it is a must.

  • sadly not even close to Eric Kalsbeek's divine , powerful voice , what a loss ...

  • @soloton I actually think that Daniel does great on this... not the same voice as Eric but Daniel has a nice and versatile voice. He can do things Eric couldnt do and he does great live!

  • @soloton You are just judging Daniel by one song, without knowing what he's capable of, that's sad. Go listen to Cilice, and then have a second opinion

  • @StraTooS RAMEN TO THAT BRO !!

  • Textures always come up with fantastic songs AND great artworks !

  • Does anyone else jizz at 5:06?

  • Odin! This sounds awesome... Go to Spain bitches!

  • This is the proof that, of all bands, Textures won't let down. Simply eargasm

  • maybe as good as drawing circles, much better than silhouettes imo. either way textures are one of the only metal bands worth listening to these days along with meshuggah. Much looking forward to the release XD
