1. After u bake a simulation the domain will disappear and turn into the fluid. If u change a parameter and want to bake again u have to click on the fluid and the option to bake will be available on this object.
2. Applying subsurf to a fluid can be done the same way as any other object, first click on the fluid so it is highlighted, then click the editing button, under modifiers click 'add modifier' and choose subsurf. I also recommend clicking 'set smooth'.
lol poor Celeron :P I think from what I remember when I did this animation it was doing a frame in around 2-5 mins depending on the content. The most recent animation I have done with the fluid system (Wine Animation), I had some settings turned down to make it render faster, but that video had strange errors with some of the frames during the baking as you can see. Decided to keep it anyway:P
The box the water splashes in is the domain and turns invisible when baking the water. Baking the water took about 1-2hours but to render 250 frames using yafray took quite a while, I think it was around 9 hours at 800x600 with 3 layers of subsurf on the water with transparency and partial mirror effects enabled. Currently I'm using an AMD Athlon X2 6000+ although I was using the PC for other things while the video was being made.

the water is too viscous, but very nice otherwise.

very nice simulation!! my favorite blender fluid simulation on youtube!!!!hehe!...
I'm discovering blender since some weeks, i tryed some fluid simulations, and i have 2 questions:
1-When i bake a simulation, then try to change some parametres and try to bake again, sometimes i don't find the domaine any more..
2-after a simulation i try to apply a subsurf to the water (to make it smoother) but i don't know how to do this...any help please?

Cheers:D
To answer your questions:

Thanks a lot!!

thanks for this comment, I didn't know that the domain changes to a fluid when you bake.

DAAAAMNNNN!!!!
I know that the domain becomes invisible but i thought i saw some reflection.
With subsurf 2 in 320x240 and the water with reflection and transparency my Celeron D starts to cry about frame 1!
That's the advantage of multiple cores...XD

is the cage containing the water made of reflective glass?
how much time didit take to render and what CPU do you have?
