its amazing he gets all the words, i mean he had a kind of mess up at one of the shows i went to and i have heard of like 3 others, but with those kind of drugs, man thats impressive
such an amazing song i wish i seen zeppelin or tool play this live we need time machines!!!! if this song doesnt make your hair stand up on end by the end you are a robot
preference , you either prefer this or zeppelins version, or you like both. just please stop the comparisons, led zeppelin has changed rock especially for tool, obviously since tool was inspired enough to make a cover
Why the hell would you compare the Tool and Led Zeppelin versions of this song? They're both amazing bands and to be honest to say one is better than the other--especially since Tool is paying tribute to Zeppelin--is kind of in a way an insult to both the bands
Obviously Led Zepplins version of this song is Better!! they wrote the damn song!!
Tool Simply is honouring the epicness of not only the tune but the band who wrote it...Extremely well done.. Both bands are and were legends if there time.!!!
@spider0179 How can u say a song is better just because it is the orignal? ESPECIALLY when you're talking about Zep who have a poor reputation of stealing other peoples music
Anyone know if these guys have ever done a Set the Controls For The Heart of The Sun cover? I was kinda wondering since it was one of the Pink Floyd songs that was most infuential on their style, yet I can't find any footage or audio.
Don't know how you guys got on that subject, but I gotta say, I find something really special when I listen to Zeppelin and Sabbath's music, and for some reason Priest never really did that for me. Everyone's going to find the beauty in different places though, so just let that be.
thats the first time ive really seen adam actually get into the music that much. well...obviously hes always into it, but usually he is very stoic on stage. it doesnt matter what presence he shows, as long as he feels the music while others feel it too.
good some people who know what theyre talking about.why was judas priest even brought up? watch VH1s the history of heavy metal and it tells the story.i guarantee if u asked tool who was a bigger influence out of priest and zeppelin they might laugh.anyway great cover of the best hard rock band ever.
What!! Zepplin IS a founder of rock and roll. Sabbath is good, but they didnt start it. L.Z. 1 was released in 68, Sabbath didnt release thier first till 70. As far as Judest Priest, theyre not even close to being in the league of Zeppelin.
@slashrules88 dont even compare zeppelin to those two bands id say, personally ; led zeppelin/tool/pink floyd, only three bands i can listen to ANY song and never tire of
@slashrules88 i'd have to disagree with you there. you could argue the quality of black sabbath and led zeppelin all day, but as far as influential it goes hands down to Black Sabbath. Ever heard of the genre metal? yea guess where it started. Zeppelin definitely created some hard rockers, but they were not the birth of metal.
not gonna lie. don't love the cover, have mad respect for these guys (being good music in the 21st century and all) but to me they just don't gel as Zep does. i anticipate and appreciate a few thumbs down...
You have no idea what you are talking about. Do some research even Black Sabbath themselves admit that zeppelin started hard heavy rock. Sabbath started heavy metal and Judas Preist was way later hopefully someone else on here will back me up on this. Look is up there are countless interviews.
Priest was formed in 69. Sabbath was formed in 68. Zep was formed in 68. Priest was not way later, they were all at the same time. I'd say that the heavy Rock that Tool plays was influenced more by Sabbath and Priest than Zep, Zep I'd say influenced more the classic Rock bands that the heavy bands.
yeah, ya gotta get used to the megaphone, but after you get passed that, and the fact that he's singing an octave lower that Robert Plant, its actually pretty good in my opinion.
Tool and Zeps version are both really good... They are both kinda similar bands when you think about it, killer vocalists, guitarists (personally i think danny carrey and justin chancellor are better at their respective parts.
Both versions probably evoke the same emotions in different types of people. Personally Tools owns Zeps, but they came up with the riffs so fucking mega cred to them.
Zep and Tool fans should unite to blow up MTV studios in my opinion.
Their retirement show they're gonna play this song, guarantee it.
