I have a Chinese sks and use the chinese sks ammo Bandolier. I am a pretty big guy and find that it really is too short for me to use correctly. Any hints on how I could bubba some basic load suspenders and pistol belt rig to incorporate the bandolier into the system and hopefully get the both of both worlds?

@realsamwise use the newer plastic belt clip systems from the hardware or backpacking supply to get the maximum length out of the existing straps. If that is not enough then find strap material from the same source and make quick disconnect extenders for the shoulder straps and the waist band. Hey they sale an LBE with suspenders and 2 canteens at walmart in the hunting section.They seem to be just as good of quality as I was issued in the Army and alot more comfortable.Less than 30$ you could dress them up a bit with a first aid kit and ammo pouches.Hey I feel that real tree camo in the area where I live is more practical.I mean that green will stick out in the Mountains and foothills where Im from.What do yall think?

Im digging this stuff......i own at least one of each camo pattern shown in this video...haha ....No need for expensive load bearing systems....although in a dooms day scenario it would be a good idea to scavenge equipment off of dead combat personnel.

Utility belts are a great option especially if you live in the city. Just one $10 military pistol belt, 2-3 $20 Maxpedition Pouches and you are ready! Easy to assemble, wear, conceal, and discard. Only draw back is the limited load one can carry.

i agree i use a system similar to what you describe even when I'm out on one day bushcraft trips slap a multi tool on and your sorted. I think having a combat knife is good but if you really needed a knife for combat surely scavenging one from dead personnel is the way to go. I got the belt two small pouches one large pouch and a multi tool.

Yikes, you like it old school dont you lol. Its pretty cool to see that stuff its been a long time since I have seen it.  MOLLE gear is my personal favorite. The only time I ever saw a war belt like that was in boot camp on PI and thankfully the last time. Modern MOLLE gives more customization and MOLLE packs allow for better weight distribution while giving more noise discipline in the field. Not to mention a lot less fumbling when your in need for what you need.

Look at the rigs used in the many LTR videos. You will find a wide combination of components that compliment each other. Maine military has a lot of molly gear right now and it is in good shape and cheap. Dutch LBE gear,if camo, is cordura and well made. Hope this helps.

yes, the M-83 type uniform top and bottom. The uniform works very well in many parts of the USA to include michigan and georgia. Russettes in mich and red soil in the south. red granite rock base is another place where the swiss patern works well. hats and other items to match are available.

Is that a dutch military "MEGA" duffle bag? If it is I have one just like it and I love it. As far as making the ALICE pack quieter, they have covers for them made out of cotton. I think they only come in desert camo, but you can improvise. EJBOCK could probably retrofit an AK chest mag pouch (bandolier)easy enough to the ALICE equipment. If you can get one, E.German has a 5 pocket pistol pouch that is handy too. AK and M16 mags will fit in there also.....

Thanks for another great vid. Surplus stuff is an excellent way to go. When we need better gear, we'll take it from the enemies. For people that need LBE, keep an eye on that giant auction site for "military" surplus. You can put together very good LBE for very little money.

airsoft vests work too. unfortunitely I've only found MOLLE vests. If anyone finds some ALICE stuff for airsoft I would love that. I know airsoft stuff is cheaper in material, but it works fine.

the cheap airsoft tacical gear you saw must have been for beginers. Many airsofters use the same kind of vests and other tactical gear as the military uses. All you have to do is order it with out the bullet proof plate or take it out.

Absolutely! The idea is to use whatever works best FOR YOU. Improvise and create if needbe. I'm currently experiementing ways to attach a medium ALICE pack and frame to the back of a MOLLE tactical vest. The ALICE pack had no way of carrying 12 30rd AK mags across the front but a MOLLE vest does (that's a ammo load I'm comfortable with), so I will put that good ol' American ingenuity to work to devise a personalized system!

I got a full UK 58 webbing kit, my old army 150ltr Bergen and series 2 British DPS top and bottom's, the 58 isn't as light but it is indestructible more or less, the bergen is the mainstay, s2 DPS is lined unlike modern NATO kit.

By American LBE do you mean ALICE webgear? It would be nearly the same, aside from the metal alice clips to attach the pouches and buttpack. The metal sucks and your better off tying them on with paracord or using zipties, same for the suspenders.
