  • this is so wonderful. i love hearing her speak. thank you for uploading all of the wonderful videos you put on here!

  • She was most likely under the influence of psychiatric meds that were given to patients at the time that basically put them into a catatonic state, they were in the same family as Thorazine, which is known to cause convulsions and Parkonsinism and the slurred speech you hear here. Also, she smoked about 3 packs of cigarettes a day, which attributes to her tone of voice.

  • btw what is this clip from? and if its from ciao manhattan where can i watch that?

  • GIMME THAT TAPE!!!

  • wow. after I listened to this I feel she was more f'd up than I thought.

or else its just brigid b pretending to be edie as usual

  • @gina888warhol1 No, this is Edie for sure. She was very messed up, and really spaced out at times, but also highly intelligent and vocal, eloquent.

  • wow. after I listened to this I feel she was more f'd up than I thought.

  • I heard some of her voices were faked by Berlin is that true ,? This sounds like Berlin. What do you think? Andy sometimes I heard couldn't tell the difference!

  • I have never heard this before! I thought I'd found everything. I think there must be a lot of material out there... where does this come from? I guess she is talking about an incident that happened while she was staying at the Warwick Hotel... after she had left the Chelsea... Oh she talks, talks, talks and talks... Poor lost soul.

  • Oh man, would I love to hear the tape of Edie doing different characters! One of her alone was plenty of character lol.

  • i know! can u IMAGINE that tape?!

  • Wow, this is the most authentic-sounding audio clip I've ever heard from Edie. It's almost as though she is right there with you sharing her stories, very surreal and strange.

  • her voice sank so much, she has a more emphasized drawl.

  • wow.. i wonder if she was bipolar..if not, then what was her diagnosis..

  • Damn. I really wish chicks like Edie were still on the loose. NYC is so fuckin boring now.

  • i know! no art galleries left :(!

fortunately there are still many glamourous ladiez gliding around the streets tho *.*

  • The original meaning of the term glamour comes from the Middle French word for "bewitchment".Edie,Velvet etc. WERE magic. These bitches today are just walking style-boards dressed by anonymous, corporate commitees who take life-cues from "Sex in the City". Not the same.

  • Totally dig your fixations tho. You have a sincere appreciation for the beautiful and the damned.

  • You wish chicks in New York now had illnesses, were heavely addicted to drugs &had depresssion problems?

    Wow your a fucking jerk.

  • Complicated defiant, creative people usually have complicated problems. And yes, I would rather have fascinating drop-outs (like Edie)around me then the oblivious ant-like army of sorority girls and frat boys who work at banks and law firms and who now pollute my city. And where did all that conformity and good mental hygiene get them ? The UNEMPLOYMENT LINE !! The truly profound stories in life are not told by people who obey all the rules and avoid all risk. Just a f**in jerk's opinion, toots

  • Yes, intellect is a problem these days. Consider yourself blessed to be born without one.

  • Worthless talk.

  • @giannireb68 Really, I think you are more or less correct. But being different and intelligent carries great risks too. But I'd rather do interesting things than to be a living corpse like so many people.

  • BRILLIANT! Bravo!

  • thanku

  • The horrors of drug abuse complements of Edie Sedgwick.

It's so tragic that she never had the chance to show what she do creatively. She was one of a kind.

  • Her Lenny Bruce humor - "... and then I thought, Wow! This is a federal offense!" Even in a story as appalling as this it's funny. It tells us about the Edie who was fun at parties. You can tell that she was a good storyteller.

  • It breaks my heart to hear her waving, heavy voice.

  • That's creepy, the one of her in behind, like her spirit watching. That's how I see it anyways. Like art.

  • thanx for the comment/reaction

  • Yeah the video has that effect on me too... it is a segment of "Inner and Outer Space", that is quite creepy itself, colorized and in slow motion. It fits very well with the narration.

  • thank u for that description ~ & the comments, of course ;)

Bellevue was a pretty notorious place at that time, i have no idea it's current status...it's possible she was hallucinating during withdrawal. who knows?

  • For God's sake! Rats on the hospital floor? WTF?!? I hope that Bellavue now is a better place... Hell! She was definetely wasted at that time. Among other things, I see in Edie how psychiatric and mental illness could be devastating... she was rich, talented and beautiful, she had could do whatever she wanted and throw her family problems away from her back once adult. The demon, the illness, turned her life in a living hell and took her at 28.

  • Poor girl!! xx:(
