Her Lenny Bruce humor - "... and then I thought, Wow! This is a federal offense!" Even in a story as appalling as this it's funny. It tells us about the Edie who was fun at parties. You can tell that she was a good storyteller.
Yeah the video has that effect on me too... it is a segment of "Inner and Outer Space", that is quite creepy itself, colorized and in slow motion. It fits very well with the narration.

Bellevue was a pretty notorious place at that time, i have no idea it's current status...it's possible she was hallucinating during withdrawal. who knows?
For God's sake! Rats on the hospital floor? WTF?!? I hope that Bellavue now is a better place... Hell! She was definetely wasted at that time. Among other things, I see in Edie how psychiatric and mental illness could be devastating... she was rich, talented and beautiful, she had could do whatever she wanted and throw her family problems away from her back once adult. The demon, the illness, turned her life in a living hell and took her at 28.
