  • IIIIIIIIIIIIIIN HEAVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN \\m// \\m// \\m//

  • It´s interessting how much discussion I started, hey guys, don´t be to pissed, I´m actually not against "other music", I just wanted to stop this fucking "this metal genre is better then this" shit. and yes I wrote music with k, start crying you babies!

  • @Caomhan88 Chill out.

  • pretty sure i read an interview where hansi said this was about nietzsche

  • one of best power metal songs ever made

  • favorite album

  • personally, i like quite a lot of different genres of music. i love BG, and metal songs are awesome, but i actually really like techno as well. in my opinion, EVERY genre has good music and bad music. there's good techno, and bad. there are good metal songs, and there are bad ones too. anyone who completely excludes otehr genres simply for being that genre are shortsided. LISTEN to the music before judging it. in addition, there are sub-categories of EVERY genre. *cough* Power-Metal *cough*

  • 4:02 - 4:33 is just epic win.

  • man the begining of the this song is wierd and always misleads me when it gets on, then it doesnt even go back to that techno-ness wtf did they do that?

  • anyone know where i can download this album?? i cant find it on itunes o.o

  • @E7uber9000 Buy the Fucking Album. Support the band.

  • @Blacksmith676 alright dipshit... i want to buy it... i just cant find a fucking place to buy it

  • @E7uber9000 buy it from a record store online. I got The Forgotten Tales from a store in Argentina, and I live in America, but I still contributed to the band.

  • @chocoboy02 thats the whole point, i want to contribute to this band, they are amazing, i just cant find this album in the usa

  • @E7uber9000 Like I said, order it online. Unless you can't due to credit.

  • this song is pretty sick

  • I love their music

  • this is pure metal. trust me i've lisitned to metal my entire life. i

  • i can't help but to headbang to each and everyone of their songs

  • @Theawsomepwner ...thats not cool. Justin Bieber fell off the fucking ladder trying to reach puberty

  • @sh2d0wb0y WHO CARE HE STILL DOSNT SCREAM LIKE THESE FAGOTS!

  • @Theawsomepwner Silence Heretic! This is Power Metal combined with Opera, and as such the voices must be god like and powerful. Nothing drones like you could ever say will excuse the blatant inferiority that is using the same four words over and over again as half-assed lyrics. "Baby baby baby oh!!!"...Please. Your argument is invalid, your opinion insignificant. So take your 16-year old trolling ass elsewhere.

  • @Theawsomepwner Also take an English class and learn to spell.

  • @Theawsomepwner ok...if he tried singing like a REAL singer (i dont mean metal. i mean anything that isnt this baby baby baby bullshit) his voice might change and he might move up a level from FAGGOT to BAD

  • @Theawsomepwner

you are not worthy enough to even listen to what's called REAL music....

    oh well...

  • @Theawsomepwner if you dont like it....

    what are you doing here?

  • @Theawsomepwner You deserve to die in a fire for badmouthing metal

  • @Theawsomepwner Q_Q well metal isn't for everyone. But still, don't insult people that you don't like just becuase you don't like their music. It's immature and honestly, you're going to piss off a lot of people. Just be a good little Baby and be quiet please.

  • The voice of Hansi Kursch is mighty, is amazing!!! W the power metal

  • The song is about Nietzche's decline into insanity. It is not about Charles Darwin.

  • The song is about Darwin

  • Meanwhile, 9 people missed the like button.

  • Guys, stop bitching about genres and focus on the task at hand: Getting your mind blown by Hansi Kursch starting at 2:01. BOOM

  • first 5 seconds suck, and then it kicks into epic mode :)

  • @YoJimBoHugabaJoe NO the whole song is beast

  • the worst "music" is regeton we most kill that shit!

    HAIL METAL!

  • song is about Nietzsche...

  • I’m pretty sure this song is based on another character, not the one everyone is convinced it talks about…

    In the song:

-“I do not regret a word I’ve Said: The strong will survive, the weak must die”

    - “Nature’s law instead of God in Heaven”

    C. R. DARWIN said these things first, not F. W. NIETZSCHE!

  • @TempusDiei: That's right. But imo it doesn't matter, who said this before. Important is the MESSAGE - not the mouth behind the words.

  • @Gundoldingen Also this is true dude, but you know Blind’s lyrics are never simple and I read almost everywhere this mistake, but understanding who’s the character they’re speaking everyone can really “feel” the song entering it… And that’s the true message.

  • @TempusDiei This song is based on Friedrich Nietzsche.

  • @regnar666 “-_-

    1. Darwin 1809-1882; Nietzsche 1844-1900

    2. Read again my first comment

    3. 1+1= 2.

  • @TempusDiei Wierd reply. Anyway those were Hansi's words. The song talks about insanity and it has many references to Nietzsche. The main example: "Was I aware whom I has slain, I fear I was: The faceless The nameless The bush set on fire No one ever dared to speak "Shame on me, I don't believe The here and now is all we're living for" " Finally Nietzsche died in poor mental health. Darwin died completely sane. Sorry for my English.
  • @regnar666 I don’t know if you’re talking just because you want to say you’re right or maybe there is some arguments you don’t know: “Darwin died Completely sane”… sorry but that’s definitely untrue!! Read somewhere something about his illness. He suffered of several symptoms which included panic disorder, agoraphobia, loss of consciousness and a huge number of other disturbs that his illness was considered “undiagnosed”. I’m tired of saying more, see it all as you want dude.

  • *there are

  • @regnar666 Don’t worry I’m calm and you didn’t offend me. It’s only you talked about a character reversing reality of fact! I know well both characters and I read the lyrics in that way cause Darwin had a religious conflict (especially while he was making his theory) that Nietzsche didn’t have, and the two phrases I mentioned belong to Darwin (and for this the verse “I SAID” remains wrong). Now I will read the song in another way. But now I’ll doubt about Hansi’s way of writing…:-S

  • @TempusDiei

Now I need to become a bit nitpicky. ;) You're right when you say that those sentences can also be applied to Darwin - but neither Nietzsche nor Darwin said so literally and they can as well be applied to Nietzsche. "The strong will survive, the weak must die" is a vague reference to Nietzsches "Will to power" and "Übermensch"-concepts, the "Nature's law"-sentence is without doubt about his (probably most famous) "Death of God"-concept.

  • @Edain1985 No problem, I like talking of these things (they're my subjects). The sentence "the strong..." is not literal but plainly suitable with Darwin's "survival of the fittest", so as "Nature's law…"

The fact is that the character we “read” in Punishment Divine is closer to Darwin's world than Nietzsche's. Keep in mind N. was not only against Christianity, but against any "Human, All Too Human" thing, even Positivism and Evolutionism ("asserted rather than proved", N. words).

    (continue)

  • The point is this: the character described in this song has been filtrated by Hansi's own vision... in the end a “personal Friedrich Nietzsche” which never existed in this world.

    Problem solved:)

  • @TempusDiei You'd be smart if Hansi didn't already say himself that the song was specifically about Nietzche. Nice try noob.

  • @plamenj you'd be even smarter if you had been spenting few seconds reading that there’s already been a nice (and pretty long) discussion about the argument… now the noob's someone else.

  • @TempusDiei (errata corrige/misprint: *spending)

  • @TempusDiei Well at least they got it right in the end of the song when Niezsche went crazy (..vanished to the point of no return) = madness for 10 years until he died in 1900.

  • @TempusDiei You obviously missed the early part in the lyrics where they say "The obvious point is I'm insane."

  • @TempusDiei Good point but keep in mind the term survival of the fittest was coined by Herbert Spencer, not Darwin. But seeing as Darwin died perfectly sane and Nietzsche died insane and this song is about a slow descent into madness don't ya think that Nietzsche is really the figure being adressed here? Either way I think if the song is about Nietzsche it's a crude interpretation of his thought although I can easily forgive BG for that as they do rock!!!

  • @TempusDiei Eh. But Nietzsche took it to another level. He was talking about "the will to power" that would eventually lead to the creation of the superman. The intensity and craziness of this song definitely implies Nietzsche over Darwin as the focus/inspiration.

  • @stephantom Yeah, Darwin didn't die with visions from having syphilis eat away at his brain.

  • I HEAR THE ANGELS SING!

  • People who claim sub genres shouldn't exist are trying to compensate for the fact that they are completely oblivious to said sub genres and their parameters.

  • Possibly my Favorite BG song

  • Bad Ass

  • @Prankcall12 150 PERCENT AGREED

  • WE ALL KNOW THERE'S NO OTHER SIDE

    I'TS GOOD OR EVIL

I'M RIGHT BETWEEN THERE IS NO BORDERLINE

    THIS IS THE PUNISHMENT DIVINE!!

  • Nice, very nice...

  • A Night at the Opera is such a great album...long live Blind Guardian!

  • Best band to drive away hidden anger.

  • Best band to drive away hidden anger.

  • Great and power song.

  • hansi = god

  • try blood stain child, they do trancetechno-melodicdeath mashup

  • I don't especially understand the techno hate. I like metal (lots of kinds) AND techno.

  • This is the punishment divine!!!!!!

  • You should really hear some romanian music.. It sucks. But there also are some nice bands, like Cargo. Try searching "Calare pe motoare". It's nice. For more good romanian music, add my yahoo id: krragg. But make sure you mention what you want first. I don't think it really matters the name one kind of music has. If it sounds ok, it rocks.

  • what are you talking about , romantic music only has two themes :

singing about getting some or singing about not getting any .

  • Why do so many argue about the classification of metal ? it does not mater if its this kind of metal or not ! just enjoy the musik and don´t think to much. And don´t forget , we metalheads are the last stand against hiphop,r&b, popmusik and techno !!!

  • Exactly!

We're not like THEM are we? Have you ever seen how much classification they do? :| Let me see... (wiki)

    Acid · Detroit · Free tekno · Ghettotech · Minimal · Nortec · Schranz · Symphonic · Tech house · Tech trance...

And that's just techno... Then you have thousand of other computer generated shit.

    We're not like them.

    WE ARE METAL

  • @KingBigBang Wait. What? Are you arguing that metal-heads don't do sub-classifications like fans of other music genres do? Because that's just... not true. And even if it were true... so what? There isn't actually anything wrong with sub-genres.

  • @Caomhan88 Exactly? It doesn't matter what sub-genre of metal you listen to. I listen to all of them. Metal forever!

  • @xxmidnightxxsun15

I agree entirely:) I have only just found this band and they are amazing, and im a 40+ female who listens to Dahm the Bard, Manowar, Nightwish and Japan, yes i did say Japan. Who cares what genre it falls into, this band has something for everyone:) They rock:)

  • @Caomhan88 True my brother, true. \m/

  • Damn Skippy amigo

  • @Caomhan88 whats your problem against rap, r%b, and techno?

  • @joanal12

Some rap is okay, the art kind. the stuff thats just about sex and drugs is cancerous on the music industry. R&B and techno just fucking suck period.

  • @ImnonXProductions

Depends on the R&B. Janelle Monae is amazing. Those stupid "bands" with cheesy-ass names like Soul 2 Soul or some shit is just stupid. And Techno...eh. Whatever.

  • @Caomhan88 aw i dont mind a good techno song D:

  • @Caomhan88 please learn to spell music its just sad

  • @the3rdshoe "Please, learn to spell 'music'. It's just sad." Grammar, it's a respectable trait, please use it.

  • @Caomhan88 Metal i find this more of a satanic opera 0.o

  • @Rountau You are new to power metal huh?

  • @PennyDreadful1 wel i only found these people due to robot unicorn attack heavy metal so yes

  • @Rountau Well in short more focus is laid upon sounding epic instead of brutal when it comes to power metal.

Big choruses and melodies inspired by classical music. Eveything sounds dramatic.

    Its sort off romanticist.

  • @Caomhan88 techno is already dead three more to go

  • @Caomhan88 music is spelled with a c not a k

  • @ydontudie4me sry for being german ;)

  • sry for being german dude ;)

  • @Caomhan88 man you are so right but there is a kind of metal called cyber goth which i like and involves techno...

  • @Caomhan88 I agree with you on the first part, but the last sentence seems to contradict what you just said. You should like each song for its sound and meaning, not genre.

  • @Caomhan88 classification is there to make it easier to find similar sounding bands... you don't want to look for blind guardian sound alikes and instead get slipknot... that would suck.

  • @Caomhan88 Spoken like a true headbanger! Rock on! Rock on! (Or should i say Metal on? lol)

  • @Caomhan88 this comment is so incredibly homosexual, im ectremely disappointed in all of that this would even be allowed on a blind guardian video let alone "thumbs uped" nearly 100 times....

  • @Caomhan88 and if anything you dickweed, metal is the most popular genre of music these days, and this is fucking power metal, blind guardian is one of the bands that coined the fucking phrase "power metal", also its spelled "music" asshat

  • no one can argue the origin of power/epic metal is manowar

  • other bands play,rammstein burn

  • Epic metal (whatever that is), yes. Power? Naaah... I'd say that bands like Deep Purple were far more influential as far as power metal goes. They really had the whole organ/keyboard thing going on before anyone else.

  • What about RAINBOW?

Ronnie James Dio and Ritchie Blackmore, I think the main fact for Power Metal was they playing "Kill The King" in Germany, I agree with you about Deep Purple, but in that point the most influencial is Jon Lord, without him we'd never listen to Jens Johansson, Michael Pinnela ETC.

  • id say while they werent power metal themselves maiden was also a big influence on power metal

  • @YoJimBoHugabaJoe Well few Maiden songs are pure Power :3

  • Despite the facts are clear... It cannot be what we can't see ee ee!

  • it really doesn't. blind guardian has two subgenres, their considered gothic power metal, and they even add symphonic elements. they are majestic and original in all the best ways.

  • lol at the gothic part

  • @xertnoid UR AWSOME!!!!! HAHA nobody nowadays does that..... they always just take it up the ass like a little school girl!!!

  • @xertnoid I'm not a metalhead but I love Power Metal and Rap and Pop can kill themself. metal song stay popular a long while but HipHop and Pop are the kind style where songs are Fast hearedand forgotten rapidly. How much time could you like a pop song compared to a Metal one?

  • @xertnoid

Personally, I disagree. I think sub-genres are excellent for creating more specific categories- Too often I see the gravelly-voice metal lumped in with the smoother voice metal, but a sub-genre can effectively remove that confusion.

  • Blind Guardian is power metal....

  • Blind Guardian is german that's right

  • nwobhm? new wave of british heavy metal? isn't blind guardian german?

  • i have never heard of the nwobh metal and it sounds retarded blind guardian is one of my favorite bands and the other two are guttural secrete and cannibal corpse both death metal and i truly hate posers emos mainstream scene kid all that kinda metal but yet blind guardian is always number 1

  • nwobhm is bands like iron maiden and motorhead so it really isnt that retarded

  • Motorhead is not in the NWOBHM scene.

  • CC is pretty mainstream, but whatever.

  • NwOBHM just means original metal bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, it's just a lame technical term some people use. It's just the original Heavy Metal that started it all. And Blind Guardian is from Germany and they are not NwOBHM.

  • i know there from germany and i also never said they were nwobhm

  • ummm... Judas Priest aren't original metal bands.

    Sorry.

But New Wave of British Heavy Metal implies there was an Old Wave of British Heavy Metal, which there was, NWOBHM was the second wave of British Heavy Metal.

  • It just implied that they were new to the time. Not necessarily new from the old i think. But if it was like that the old bands would be like Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy ect. But they were more of original pioneers of metal then "Old Wave of British Heavy Metal" so in reality there is no old wave lol.

  • The Old Wave of British Heavy Metal would be artists like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, the bands that invented the genre

  • @FractureOfReality

    And Early 70´s Queen also

  • And seeing how Judas Priest formed around 1969 i would say Yeah they are one of the few original metal bands lol. They started then opening for bands like Think Lizzy/Black Sabbath.... so they were one of the few original....

  • @MEhrDcoRe yeah dude, cannibal corpse are one of the most mainstream death metal acts out there.

  • Damn...that's all I can say... (5 stars)

  • this song kicks so much ass

  • Yay, a song about Nietzsche.

They did him no justice though, someone plz make 'em stop crucifying teh idols of my childhood.

  • long live to POWER METAL

  • i prefire this song live.

yo prefiero esta cancion en vivo.

  • amazing song!

  • Is there, really, any other band so magnificent?

I mean..There are plenty of other bands out there, but one so united, so devoted to their music?

  • great song very awesome lyrics hansi never disappoints i have pride wearing my guardian shirts in places filled with meatallica shirts and maiden shirts i mean i love them but any A hole who half knows anything is walking around with them

  • Because we all have been at the border of madness... Greatest lyric EVER

  • best song ever

  • Perfect!!!! Cant say more

  • Comment removed

  • all hail the all migthy BG.

  • hail from germany

  • Blind Guardian we TRUST! -

    Lithuania

  • Hail

  • This is a truly masterpiece, only an ingorant can't see the beauty within its lyrics, music & harmony, thank you Blind Guardian (of course, thank you Nietzsche)

  • Abandoning the superior mind.. I feel sorry for what happened to Fridrich Nietzsche.. great lyrics!!!

  • Why is this band so under rated?

  • Good question. But there are other great Bands nobody ever heard of (e.g. Pyramaze).

  • It is? ...

  • Blind Guardian is pretty well known

  • Yeah, but not with the mainstream audience.

  • Bah, mainstream sucks :P

  • theres a difference between bands that have become mainstream, and bands that make mainstream music.

  • Blind Guardian ... I do not think will make a mainstream... For ALL, that is! They're MY mainstream :P

I meant that the current mainstream sucks... hehe...

You've seen that "you say pop, I say metal", right....It's spam.

...But where it says "you say pop", well... that's apparently the mainstream today! Grr...

However, I think it would still be a little dull if everyone knew Blind Guardian... sigh. That would actually be unbearable...

  • haha I do not beleive the world could handle blind guardian. then again if mainstream music was this good, underground would be bliss.

  • uyeah i guess if the became too popular itd be kinda like metallica, or even on the same level naruto. yes naruto im not lying. too many ppl have become 'narutards' we dont need any 'guardiantards' ppl would see them and just fdiss the music without even hearing it, just because of the looks of their fans. so yeah fuck mainstream

  • And they've never even had a commercially succesful album, even though they are pretty well-known.

  • Maybe in Germany?

  • Yeah, but they're underrated internationally. It's very usual for a band to only have succes in their homeland.

  • I'm from sweden and i here they're gods!
