I just uncovered this lil v-series I had never even heard of before. *gasp* ..but go figure, those canadian shows seem to fly under the radar. How did "Blood Ties" get more face time than this? lol

If you look at vampire novels and movies that came BEFORE twilight it is easy to see that Stephanie Meyer is the one who copied others. For example: L.J Smiths Vampire Diary books came BEFORE and there are certain scenes that are exactly the same as twilight.

@Yalegirl2011 Hello! The Vampire legend is an ancient stories dating back centuries, and originated in Transylvania. ALL vampire movies are based on these legends, so of course there'll be common denominators in various movies; like they drink blood, they burn in sunlight, etc... Because that's how the legend goes, if one strayed too far from the legend it wouldn't be recognized as vampirism, would it?

The real difference lies in whether it's pop/soap/drama-vampirism or not...

Actually, it was Twilight that made me love vampires so much, and because of that I've found many great book-series and movies. Including Anne Rice. I used to be very obsessed about Twilight, but my obsession totally disappeared as sson as started reading about real vampires. Now, I don't give a fuck about Twilight. I'm just forever greatful I've found so much amazing reading because of it.

Anne Rice had one good book, "the Vampire Lestat". Other then that she sucks. Men going at each others asses is annoying. So are Cathoilc guilt ridden vampires. The only reason ppl like Rice is that she was one of the earlier writers. Her writing style is pure crap.

I hated how the ended it, but they expected to come back for another season. Of course, here in the U.S., instead of keeping Blood Ties episode 1-22 a single season, Lifetime had to split it into two separate seasons - and they never got renewed for a third.

Blood Ties is one of my all-time favorite vampire shows, but it had the most unsatisfying series finale ever!
