  • I drove one today, it had been used in iraq for survallence and is now used by the fbi. It costed 50,000 and was the exact same model as this one

  • i wish i had that sooo bad man that is siick!

  • can this like be your personal servant? like can it bring u stuff?? like omg wat does it doooo!

  • Ha...I actually got hands on with this baby today. It is a pretty awesome piece of technology. I am in a class called Engineer Explosive Ordnance Clearing Agent for the Army. For those people who want to know what its used for...the primary mission for this version (irobot EOD) is to remotely blow in place ordnance or IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices).

  • holy shit 200,000 dollers!

  • One of these robots had been blown up while disposing an EOD in Afghanistan, and the sergeant in charge of it brought it back to iRobot's repair center and, in tears, pleaded the technician to fix it. He said that this robot had saved so many lives; he had made a mark on the robot for each bomb it had disarmed. Thank you iRobot.

  • for the kiddies out there who keep asking what dose it do, think about what it can do instead with the features discussed. A lot of great and horrible ideas have come from seeing what something can do, and then using it for something besides it's designed purpose. This thing can do several tasks, but what i think we need to hear more of is the "freedom arm" and what are it's abilities.

  • remind me

wat was this thing built for?

    a moveable harddrive?

    self driven trolley?

  • But really noisy!

  • that's a cool robot

  • how much is it for one?

  • alot

  • around $200,000

  • the control station looks like the GameBoy Jumbo lol

  • very nice, modular, purchase ready

  • ok but what does it do ?! it was just driving around, like a remote controlled car - we had that already in the 80's, i want to see this thing actually do something on its own

  • it was actually a defense contract to build a backpack modular robot that can negotiate possible IED sites.

  • i am a busy guy and start hating very much idiots with no life, and nothing else to do, so get a life, work and girlfriend, i am really impressed that this shit you didnt named it "hack" too

  • When i saw his hat i gained full respect for this guy. :D

  • A fox..? What is it?

  • Its a bike accessory company called fox.

Probably the most famous specialized company out there for bike accessories.

  • and douches :P

    i kid i kid

  • Nice hat, Fox

  • I used this once, broke it after about 5 minutes :(

  • how much this cost

  • about $150,000. In that area.

  • cool

  • i wan to get some of this pro robot

  • chee bai la u

  • The stair-climbing flippers! They need to figure out a way to put that or something like it on the Roomba so it can vacuum the whole house automatically. That might be a few generations away though.

  • ROOMBA

  • odd you mention that, considering that it's made by the same people. As a matter of fact the motor is the same in the Roomba

  • Niiiiiiiiiiiiiice!!

  • on this video, head over to 4 minutes and 40 seconds to see the really cool stuff! XD

  • Totally cool!

  • LOL THATS GREAT

  • pretty neat

  • cool but he talk too much init

  • I Don´t know that Apple was selling robots!! Maybe you can even connect this robot with your IPod to listen music while defusing a bomb!! LOL

  • these actually are the robots we're currently using in iraq to diffuse roadside bombs.

  • sony battries are dangerous.

  • COOOl!!!

  • WOW is this like a college project or something or actual task force use right now? Alot of work to accomplish something like this.

  • $40 million worth ;)

  • The 60 degree climbing ability is very impressive. The chatter from the gearbox on the way up and down does not inspire a lot of confidence though.

  • The LEGO PackBot I saw also on youtube has the same chatter. However, if the chatter is just a little non-destructive gearslip between the rubber treads and the plastic wheels at maximum operation load, then maybe that's ok and is an engineered self limit. I'm pretty sure that's what it is, not gearbox chatter.

  • Packbot is an awesome robot, check my stair climbing robot based on it

    replace * by dots.

  • batteries included?

  • this reminds me of the robot that the swat uses

  • Cool, and are sure it could only be used with bombs? It seems like recon of any hazardous environment would make this robot usefull (dot dot dot)

  • without bombs you have no purpose.

I'm going to put you out of business.

how about you do something worthwhile with your time and build a domestic humanoid with translation capability as its primary function (3p0)?

    worldpeace,

    ben

  • dumbass lol

  • Quite the contrary.

    Worldpeace,

    Ben
