Believe or not, it is the fact that without original designing blueprint and craft, it would be much more difficult to make a plane only through reverse-engineering than make a new one. Either copies are much inferior to the original design or it will take much longer unless you have more advanced technology than original manufacturer. This is why we have Blackhawk, but we can “copy” one and this is also why I believe that even if American give us a F-22, we couldn’t copy it.

Interesting concept @0:26. Why isn't either Pakistan or China trying for it? This cannot be JF-17 MK-2 because to make upgrades like this means re-designing the whole fighter. That would mean work from scratch which is as good as a new fighter.
With fighter technology evolving into a new generation, I don't think this is economically or militarily viable by either countries. In coming years China will get its 5th gen fighters. So who will it make this version for? 1 country isn't viable enuf.

India is one of the only major countries of the world that has been been unable to design and manufacture its own planes, tanks and missiles that work. The Key word is “work’. India has struggled for over two decades in designing the Tejas and it is not close to flight trials. The LCA, the Arjun, Trishul, Akash and other missiles are the same failed stories. It purchased hundreds of Flying Coffins which it could neither maintain nor fly.
I hate to break this to you but..the JF-17 has only 80% of the ability of that of F-16C. Even the upgrade JF-17 II have NO stealth concept at all, which would be inefficent against even a F-18 E/F..

Believe or not, it is the fact that without original designing blueprint and craft, it would be much more difficult to make a plane only through reverse-engineering than make a new one. Either copies are much inferior to the original design or it will take much longer unless you have more advanced technology than original manufacturer. This is why we have Blackhawk, but we can “copy” one and this is also why I believe that even if American give us a F-22, we couldn’t copy it.

Interesting concept @0:26. Why isn't either Pakistan or China trying for it? This cannot be JF-17 MK-2 because to make upgrades like this means re-designing the whole fighter. That would mean work from scratch which is as good as a new fighter.
With fighter technology evolving into a new generation, I don't think this is economically or militarily viable by either countries. In coming years China will get its 5th gen fighters. So who will it make this version for? 1 country isn't viable enuf.

India has struggled for over two decades in designing the Tejas and it is not close to flight trials. The LCA, the Arjun, Trishul, Akash and other missiles are the same failed stories. I hate to break this to you but..the JF-17 has only 80% of the ability of that of F-16C. Even the upgrade JF-17 II have NO stealth concept at all, which would be inefficent against even a F-18 E/F..

A standard time for to produce an fighter aircraft... where the LAST Chance AIRCRAFT was started in 1982 and is not operational till date and now IAF has announce that it will be operational by 2015 (not sure). lolz

1- LCA cant even pull more than 17 degrees AOA meaning it has a limited angle of attack JF-17 can pull the same amount as a F-16.
2- LCA isn't even for all weathers recently in an air show in India in 2009 LCA wasn't able to take off in rain.
3- Its too costly meaning its no longer a replacement for IAF’s flying coffins.
4- its been 27 years and india only have produced 6 prototypes (the longest aviation project in history)

If it was so easy everyone would be making them. and china haven't tested their system. The avionics is the most important part of the plane. a US f16 can shoot its missile from over a 100 mile, a pakistani f16 needs to be a hell of a lot closer. The airframe is outdated n metal based, modern aircraft are made of composite material. china has no radar, period

@eggnogs when did i said it is easy to make engines? ws-13 was starting developed since 1998. and have testes 12 flying tests till 2009. may be 2011 will be the date WS-13 will be thums up for get in jf-17 and it has 10% thrust check wikipedia. And avionics are important but not the most imp part. Radar it is which is matter. chineese avionics aren't that bad compare to american and Europeans. just initial 50 jf-17 will use the same air frame. there is work going on for after ward inductions.

In 2009 after the Mumbai attack 2 MiG29s try to enter in Pakistan from Kashmir and intersected by 2 PAF F-16. Later on 2 IAF SU30s entered from Lahore and intercepted by PAF one F7 and one JF-17. And our small eagles easily pushed back your so called bigger vultures. Coz a vulture could be bigger in size but always afraid from a small eagle.
