From what I've seen on other vids, they take sand and add it back to the grooves left by the screed boards as they work their way down the project. They use a metal concrete finishing trowel to pack it in and smooth the sand down. I've also seen them fill the grooves when they lay the bricks down as they get to them using the trowel.
are you for real marshalls filming these jokers look at the state of the whole job. did they get paid cos i certainly wouldnt have if i had left a job like that sickening

building sand is too soft to be used for the laying course for block paving and does not compact like course grit sand does, when building sand get wet it can turn into slurry which will undermine the base for the block paving

fantastic - does anyone recommend to use a membrane skin under the bricks or is it totally a gimmick?

Membranes are pointless and a waste of money. Save them for the chipping beds etc.

why is it building sand not good??
